Hood Pin Dilema.....wife got me
I have to say get rid of the fake ones. If you like the look, go with the real deal, otherwise you'll be laughed at if anyone finds out.
We are always ripping "ricers" for having non functional peformance mods, why do people seem to be so accepting around here of fake, taped on crap?

Just put 'em on, let them grow on you, your wife will be happy that you appreciated your gift, then you can decide if you want to drill into your hood and possibly dimple the hood when it's pinned later on.
Put them on. You probably have no idea how special she feels that she got you something you really wanted and really like. Or how hurt she'll be if you don't seem to appreciate the gift. It doesn't matter why it seems that way, all she will see is that you traded it in. It won't matter how much "sense" it makes, and you won't be ble to explain it "rationally." It's a gift, and she's probably very excited to be able to participate in a small way in a hobby that clearly means so much to you.
Wow, we are all over the map on this one. I know we call non performance mods rice here......actually rice mods do work. the CAI is theirs sort of. Most of the mods we do, they do also. CAI, Headers, UD Pulleys, NOS, etc.
As for non functional: Hood scoops, side scoops, etc are all fake but that is ok.
The only real consensus is to get the fake ones on and later put the real ones in its place.

Trust me man, faction with your wife is a lot more important than what other people think of you and what you should have on your car. Obviously, I dont know your wife, but if she is like most generous women, sometimes the most trivial things add up more than the larger ones. So whats worst, replacing them without her knowing and then she finding out... or some random guy checking out your car at a stop light and asking if they are real?
With that said, unless you really have an aftermarket hood, or having hood rattling problems at high speeds, its all the same thing. Its the difference between the stock spoiler and a ducktail spoiler that everyone raves about, its all for looks anyway.
Whatever you do, be happy with it.

Well, got them in today. They look good. I am still out to lunch on what to do. The lanyards attach to the underside of the hood. So If I go to a car show, most folks won't see them anyway. I have done a whole bunch to my engine bay.
I was worried that they would be attached to the radiator frame, but they are not.
Can anyone show me their stick on hood pins?

This is what I would do. i would attach them wrong on purpose and act ****ed that they don't fit and return them..This only works if your wife doesn't have a clue about cars or Mustangs..A little devious, but it will work
well it`s your car and you should do what you like.....if you feel the hood might become damaged and not worth the look to have your hood messed up then go with the stick ons.either weay the both will look nice but less worried about what if`s ................
Traffic,
Here are a couple of pics of my "stick on" hood pins. The under hood photo is where I attached the lanyards. Shows the left side, but I did the same on both sides.....

Why are you sticking them on there at all? I would do it for real if I had that hood vibration problem some have had or if you go with one of the fiberglass hoods that seem to shake at high speeds. Otherwise, why bother?
Just my opinion.
