Hood Blackout
I did not mean that I was charged $200 for the install, I was charged $200 for the whole deal- He ordered the material, cut to fit and installed it for $200 ! I am happy with the single piece with no seams.

I'm not a painter, but, Ive had a couple of things painted ( front fascia & rear bump ) neither cost more then 200.00 that included prep and clean up, so how much could one hood cost? my stripes are vinyl and scoop painted.
WHAT??? I paid 450 to get my rear bumper painted/installed!
Yellow05...I was planning doing exactly what you did to my car.....you pushed me over the edge.....now my dad wont let me buy anything untill i get my grades upppppp argh

Ok, for all those interested in the Steeda style hood blackout, it is finally done. I am very pleased on how it turned out. Here is the link for those who are interested.

I actually ordered your lower fascia blackout strip but haven't had a chance to install it yet. Do you have a link to directions to install these parts?
I did a photoshop first, so I had a good idea what it would look like,
I also cut a hole in the hood, so I really don't see going back.
I am also thinking about removing the vinyl stripe on the side and having it, or something like it, painted as well.

First off, Brent, I'm sure you do excellent work, but I too looked at vinyl to do a 'Steeda' hood, so this is no cut on you, but they're **** near impossible to do on a 3d surface. And, most vinyl shops have a 30" max width, so I decided to go with paint. Besides, it will last the life of the car. I went with gloss because it's easier to maintain. Once you go black, you never go back. (What's all this talk about removing the stripe after it's done? Make a decision and stick with it!) In Brent's behalf, the side stripes are vinyl and I have no plans to paint them. They stay vinyl. I may change the style... or not. But they will remain vinyl...

I do agree with you that doing this in one piece is nearly impossible. That is why I did it in 2 pieces. If you look at the hood, the hardest part is the center line down the hood. That is why there is a seam in the center. Even if I had a machine that would cut this in one piece, I don't think it would work. By the way, your car is sweet!!! I love the gloss center section. I think your car alone will probably change peoples mind to paint the center section.
I went with the vinyl because it was one piece, custom made and was much cheaper than the $600- 700 quotes I had gotten for paint. Plus I considered that if somehow I did not like it, I could remove it easier than paint. $200 vs $600 to try it out-----no brainer to me
