Good question - I'd be interested in these as well....is the 8000K range the best for HID lighting?

What differences are there between these HID's for $259.00 and Saleen's HID kit for $800.00?

I took a look at this kit... I don't think it's a great buy unless you want to lose your high beams.

I have both Saleen headlights and Ebay (Phillips ballast) HID foglights. If you do a search you'll find my installation adventures.

In a nutshell:

There is only one ballast per bulb in the pictured kit. (Those ballasts look pretty small, too) That means NO high beams. The Saleen set uses a mechanical reflector to SIMULATE a high beam but no changes are made to the bulb or its output.

There is a kit out there that has FOUR ballasts for a true "dual" high/low setup. I didn't pay much attention to it because I already have HID headlights, but it seemed pretty trick. (and more expensive)

8000k is too purplish to serve as a useful headlight. Stick to 6000k or less. The Saleens are 4300k. Check out the pic I'm attaching for reference.

Placing an HID bulb in a stock headlight unit not designed for a HID bulb causes serious GLARE! My foglights blast the hell out of people in front of me, so out of courtesy I shut them down in high traffic situations. You do not have that option with your headlights. A 2007 and up headlight (doesn't contain a glare shield) will probably be even worse.

Bottom line: I'd either get the Saleen headlight kit, or wait for KC to provide a better price when the 2008 HID stock lights become available. I'm sure he could work some sort of better pricing for us.

Just my $0.02, hope I helped!

Pix: Saleen headlights are 4300k, foglights are 6000k. Note the bluish/purplish color is only on the fogs. Also, check out how my foglights glare!

Sorry I didn't click the link, but I do have a HID kit. The kit I have is a Bi-Xenon kit and is 4300K. This is the lightest ouput and is the closest factory HID's. As you move up the Kelvin scale the light becomes more bluish and the output is less. I bought mine from VisionBulbs.com for 275 shipped. Search and you can find pictures of my setup.

Where on their web site is the bi-xenon kit for that price? I looked and all I saw was the two ballast setup ( one per side ) for the H13 in that price range. They do offer the H13HL ( Hi/Lo) kit but it was $325 .

YaoNYC: Thanks for the compliment!

Rumor has it that 2008 Mustangs will have optional HID headlights, ostensibly based on the Saleen design. The Saleens are $899 + shipping, but I believe you can find them on the 'Net slightly cheaper.

Check out my thread here: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...HID+Fog+Lights

for more information on where I got the fog lights, and more pix.

There is a discount code that I used. I will look for it tomorrow, if you want it. The price was 275 shipped for the Bi-Xenon kit. The kit itself is plug and play except for one connection. It's a basic install and once I get my car back from the body shop I can get some pictures.
