HID kit for Raxiom Smoked Mustang 2010 Style Headlights (05-09)

I recently ordered these headlights for my 2007 GTCS and in the reviews someone put that they were using an HID kit with H11 bulbs with these projector lights, does anyone have any information on this that could go more in depth as to what I would need?

Just need to buy one of those plug and play HID kits. Just be warned that those are halogen projectors and not meant to be used with HIDs. So although it will work, you will probably have hotspots in your cutoff.

Maybe try something like this:
http://www.stangmods.com/Projectors-...gs-p/00274.htm
http://www.stangmods.com/Mustang-HID...ps-p/01087.htm

Or as said above. *Note: I don't own either of those, so I don't know how they work.*

What do you mean "hotspots in your cutoff" I'm not familiar with lighting stuff, could you please explain, what would it damage? Lenses? Bulbs? Housing?

Hot spots do not cause damage. The cut-off line is that sharp line where the HID beam cuts off. Hot spots mean that there will be brighter sections of the beam instead of a nice uniform appearance.

Here's a good example. This owner (not a Mustang) actually took apart the aftermarket halogen projectors to modify the shield and improve the cutoff (I can only imagine what it looked like before). See the hot spots of light in the center of each side?

Here's what an OEM HID set-up actually looks like. The left side dips down purposefully to avoid blinding oncoming traffic too:

So is it really a big deal? Nope, unless you REALLY like HIDs. But just something I like to share with people so they do not expect their lights to resemble a factory setup. As long as expectations are in line, happy modding!

I'd love to see some pics. And be sure to let us know how the install goes...I plan on replacing my headlights at some point. I've heard the easiest way is to take off the front facia, but I wasn't sure if it could be done with it on...

I took off the front bumper to do mine. I don't think it can be done otherwise, but it's actually pretty easy!

Good luck with the mod, I think those lights will look great on a black ride!

Well, my ride is black, I got some VHT Night Shades and I'm going to put on one coat just to add to the "smoke" the lenses already have, make em' a lil darker, they came in the mail today and they look SICK, I need to order the 4300 HID H11 kit to see what its going to look like, but I wont be installing them till I get my Aeroform Mystery 8 GFX front end put on

So, I sprayed one of the lights with a coat of VHT Night Shades only to discover I hated the way it covers and IMMEDIATELY removed the paint before it dried with alcohol wipes... WHEEEEEWWWWW!!!! Glad I got it off in time, I did use tint on the front bumper lights, so we'll see how that works out.

What exactly did you not like about the way it covered?

That paint can be tricky. Gotta do a certain number of coats and then polish the crap outta it. I prefer film - has a decent gloss and can be reversed should you change your mind.

I didnt like the way the VHT spray was spraying, it looked like crap so I rubbed it off before it dried. I wanted to get the film, but I think I'm going to leave things as is untill I can get these things mounted.

blueskyvert, thanks for that explanation about the left side dipping lower. i couldn't figure out why my wife's HIDs looked like that. makes a lot of sense.
