HID Foglights installed!
Well, it's adios to those lame-o Silverstars foglights. I obtained a Phillips H-10 HID fog light kit off e-Bay and installed them today!
Wow, what a difference... the formerly useless fog lights really light up the road now. I don't think the glare is TOO bad, although they are pretty bright. They are a lot more "bluish" than the Saleen HIDs, making them look dowdy by comparison.
Installation isn't too bad, the hardest part was mounting the ballasts for the fogs. Another bonus is that the wiring to the fog lights is a lot longer, allowing for a GT500 install, or center mounted fog lights.
The documentation that came with the HIDs is crap. However, I took lots of pix, I can make a "How To" tutorial if anyone is interested.
All in all I am very pleased with this mod, and it gives me great pleasure to toss my Silver Star bulbs into a drawer.

Anyway to make the headlights match the color of the new fogs? I'd like to do the swap, but I wouldn't want the lights to be miss-matched. Just looks funny, IMO.

Use them sparingly...you will probably tee off a few drivers and hopefully you won't tee off the local gendarme...that could cost you a ticket...looks like they're brighter than your "high beams."

2005 Sonic: I installed clear corners at the same time I installed the HID foglights! Thanks to SurfnSoCal for selling them to me... The orange light you see is from the LED/Silverstar turn signal bulbs. During the day it's all clear...
Northwest GT: The kit is by "Phillips" but it's a generic HID bulb set, wiring, and ballast. The H-10 bulbs fit perfectly into the fog light sockets.
StangNut: In order to match the Saleens you will need to get the 4300k HID bulbs. That's where I blew it - I ordered 6000k bulbs and now the foglights are more "purplish" than the headlights. Ah, well... lesson learned I guess...
MarkS: So far no trouble! I have run the fogs at night and no one has brighted me "your highs are on" yet... The HIDs aren't that bright when viewed at an angle (they look like a bluish purple) but they sure do blast you if you are directly in front of them. So far so good with the local Johnny Law as well, I passed a few CHPs and so far no interest...
Mikeelia: This kit doesn't replace the reflectors, only the bulbs. So far no trouble with burning the reflectors. I remember reading somewhere that the reflectors were burned with high (100w) wattage bulbs that put out more heat than the stock (55w) bulbs. The HIDs don't appear to put out that much heat as far as I can tell - after extended usage I can't feel much heat in either the front or the back of the light housing. I think it will be OK.

They cost a buck fifty including shipping.
Hat tip to Redfire05GT, he found the guy. He was reliable, timely, and the goods were delivered as promised.

Anyone know what the bulb type for the fogs on the GT500 is? Or any chance the foglight assembly from a prior year is easily retrofitted? I cannot find the bulb type in any listing so its kinda hard to order HID kits.

I actually feel LESS heat emanating off the foglight lens than before.
I will say that they are BRIGHT but not quite bordering offensive to others, so they will stay. They really light up the road in front of you at night, and so far still no oncoming drivers have brighted me, flipped me off, etc...
