Hmmmm, I am running the Steeda hood struts (same as CDC) and I have a rise on the drivers side, you can see it in this picture. Rear and front are flush with the fender. I was wondering if the struts where causing this.

Is this what it was like?

Ok so I couldn't deal, this has been bothering me for quite some time so I went out in the garage and took the struts off. It appears it has minimized the lift in the center like the pic above but I won't know until I get it outside tomorrow.

It sounds like the struts were bound up or bottoming out.

Thats what I was thinking. I just took it one step at a time after I removed everything and started to adjust. I also shimmed up my fender just a touch with a washer under the bolts. Now I am back to that stupid rod.

I just pulled it ouf the garage, didn't really make much of a differance. The other issue I have on the drivers side is the gap between the fender and the hood is wider then the passenger side. Can that be adjusted (meaning is there a way to adjust the hinges besides loosening them, having someone push to one side and tighten?

Well, I am one happy camper. I have been staring at this thing since January and it's felt like a needle stabbing me everytime I looked at the car. I just fixed it and kept the struts on no less. Spent about 2 hours using shims and washers on both fenders, adjusted back and forth, and oh yea, removed those big thick factory rubber stops about halfway up the fender and have it pretty much as good as it's going to get. Now I need to work on the fascia........and unleash the fury on the high end body shop that should have did it right in the first place. So freeking hard to find quality these days.

Thats ok, I stared at it all friday night and all day yesterday, and it had to be fixed. I cannot fault my guys, who would have thought, plus they did it for me at no cost (good, very good friend). I know cervini said they can be used, but I guess not, huh.

I also did the shims (still have a few in the fender) mine is almost competely gone and hardly noticible at all. I am glad I helped you some, that is why this forum rocks.

I'm running the MRT struts on my stock hood and was hoping to use them with the Cervini kr hood. The test fit of my hood looked perfect aside from the gap issue like above being wider on the driver side. I didn't put any time into that adjustment since I knew it was coming back off and that was a easy adjustment. I had no hump but I didn't test fit it with the struts so I guess in the next few days when mine comes in I will find out if the struts work with it or not. I have installed the MRT's on the Steeda Cowl hood with no issue and seen the Redline Tuning struts on a Dream hood with no hump. I figured since the MRT design basically extended the factory hinge arm and because the bracket fit on the surface of the hinge and not between the hinge and hood that it wouldn't put that kind of stress on the hood.

Thanks for the Topic guys its always good to have others with a issue chime in with their solutions. It makes life a lot easier for all of us.

I agree that this forum gives us good insite on other modders trials and tribulations. I wish you luck.

On side note, I was not happy with the response or should I say lack of response from Cervinis. Not a good customer service on my point of view.

Well, I have to say I am not convinced the struts are the culprit (at least in my case) but they do ad a slight bit of height. With my Shelby hood without the struts, the rise was still there. I then shimmed the fender and got it flush. I then put the struts back on and it did rise a little bit which I also managed to level by playing with the shims (mostly washers on the fender bolts). For me and my hood (not sure on other glass hoods) the biggest culprit even after the shims where the large rubber stops about halfway up each fender. I removed those and bingo, everything is flush. I am unsure what the impact of not having those in will do though.

I do still have a slight difference in the gap but it's almost unoticable. I'll try to post some pics tonight.

I may try to shim some more, I shimmed up 2 washers in the middle and one on each end. I tried to cut the rubber bumpers down, but it looks so jed clampet.

No dice on the pics, typical Florida when I want to do something..big ol' thunder cloud rolls in faster then I can blink.

Traffic, I have 3 washers in a couple spots. I thought it would totally throw everything off but it didn't. I just added washers to the bolts near the areas that needed it. I also used a strip of aluminum that I cut into 3 pieces to slightly up the gap that was between bolts. it's not perfect but it's **** close, especially since after market parts are never perfect.

Just lay a big brick wrapped in a towell on the hood to push it down.

LMAO Doug, I actually thought of that over the last 7 months figuring maybe if I left it on there when the car was parked the hood would eventually stay down....it's the Irish in me, ducktape and hammer fixes everything.

I have the Cervinis Concept with Redline struts and don't have the problem. I have called Cervinis several times for questions and found them to be very helpful. Must have been a bad hair day for them. I just wish the hood had some type of screening in the ram air holes.
