Help, How to adjust Cervini hood

I know I already have a post, but I gotta get some help on this. It is sitting about 3/8 too high in the middle. of the passenger side along the fender. It sits fine at the windshield and it is just a bit short along the front headlight area. IF you push it down in the high spot, you can level it out and the front area is all perfect.

The driver side is just a shade too high. I know the hood is made in the mold, but Now it is painted it is too late. Arrgg I had hoped that cervini would not give me this kind of problem with their reputation.

I don't think there's much you can do at this point. Such is life with glass hoods.

If you havent already tried, loosen the fender bolts on both sides and have someone help you move the hood around. If you get it where you like it, hold the hood and let the other person tighten the fender bolts. Good luck.

Did you do a trial fit first?

I have worked with fiberglass for the last 25 years and even though the current materials used today are much better than those of even 5 years ago, if the material is improperly mixed or comes out of the mould before its has had plenty of cure time it can distort over time even a short period of time.

Do you mean fender bolts or hood attachment bolts? I did try loosing the bolts that hold the hood to the hood attachment points.

I just think it is just warped, funny how it did it only on one side.

Not sure about the trial fit, I am sure they did do that..........I know them and they do really good work.

Like I said in your other thread, If your body guy cant do it, I suggest you give Cervinis a call. You paid good money and you should expect quality product. Especially Cervinis has good reputation for their quality prouducts. Like any mass production units, here are likely to have some defective units and this might be it.

I would also suggest that when you got the replacement from Cervinis, Dry fit the hood first before you take it to your body shop.

Good luck....

Fender bolts. There are four on each side. Have the hood bolts loose also when you are adjusting. If they test fit it, you should be able to adjust it to fit also. Maybe they just didnt tighten all the bolts.

Normally they are used to make a consistent hood fender gap. Just do it.

OK, loosen these bolts (all four and these just hold the fender), loosen the bolts that attach the hood to the hinge and not the hinge to the body correct?

I know in 2006 it took me nearly 2 months to get mine, and once the bodyshop baked the hood for about 4 days and test fitted the hood they were impressed with the outcome. I know I am too.

How is loosening the fender bolts going to help with a hood that is sitting 3/8" HIGHER than the fender? His issue isn't a horizontal gap issue, it's a bowed hood that's sitting higher than the fender. I don't think you're ever going to pull the fender up 3/8" to match the hood. Besides, the front and rear sound like they're in line so they'd end up off I'm sure. I think he's dealing with a bum hood.

NO luck on that, but I noticed that my cdc mounting brackets on the hood side are not inbetween the hinge and the hood, it is between the bolts and the hinge................ would that really matter???

If he had a reputable body shop do it and they did in fact test fit, that maybe adjusting might work. Sure worth a try as it can't hurt. Also, why would a reputable shop let that go out like that? Also, if it is that far off, why didn't he see it when he picked it up. Something doesn't seem right here.

The body shop let me know about it, but was not able to adjust it out. It did not appear till paint. Since it is over 3/8 too high, they did not want to shave it that much. I did add some shims under the fender and it is now between 1/4 adn 3/8 off.

Do you think the CDC strut brackets would make a difference by not being between the hinge and the hood?

I recall reading some posts a while back about the brackets causing the hood to be out of alignment (albeit not 3/8-inch). It might be worthwhile to try and re-install the brackets as per CDC's instructions.

I got it fixed, Hurray !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ended up getting rid of the CDC struts (any one want a set cheap)

I then had the neighbor pull the hood to him (after I loosed all the bolts on the hood/hinge)

I then tighten them up and I am now down to a 1/8 gap on the passenger side, down from over 3/8 from earlier.

I put the struts back on it and the gap was back. So off the struts went (after dropping one of the bolts down below the batter box and having to remove all of that crap.)

Thanks to all those who gave advise, thanks again
