Has anyone removed the plastic cover and painted their headlight buckets?
There is a place that offers painted headlight buckets for my Magnum, and I was thinking of asking hime to do my Mustang head lights, but not re-attaching the plastic cover.
Has anyone tried doing this? I assume you would need to install a sealed head light to replace the open factory unit. Essentially trying to do what CDC did.

My first write up would be NOT to try this.....
But if you want to try it, I used a heat gun, on low and I still bubbled the clear lens a little bit. Took me about 3 hours of gentle prying to remove the clear lens another few hours of prep, and I still dont know if they are water tight. I guess time will tell. Enclosed are a few work in progress pict's taken from my cell phone.

Exactly. That would be my first suggestion too. But if your game. It's great to be able to say "you did it yourself"!

How did you guys seal them up when completed? Epoxy or some other adhesive?
I have genuine interest in doing this and had thought to just buy two new buckets to "work" with. Does anybody have a part number for these?

i really like the painted look too....im very interested in this...
is it really that hard, it looks like once you get the lens off its cake.
there has to be a good way to get the lense off, what type of glue holds it on?
how much are new buckets to work with? i wonder if money could be had if you were to make and sell these???

I doubt the dealership would take the time and effort to actually remove the lenses and replace them correctly. From their perspective it's much easier to just replace the entire assembly as a whole.
