They sure look nice on the actual GT500, but I don't want to be a poser either. Lot's of folks put Cobra rims on older stangs though, so why not right? Any thoughts on these? Is there a secret society of Mustang owners that think these rims stink?

These were first on eBay several months ago. People got excited about them and now it's died down. I've seen one guy on here that has a set. He had them powder coated all black.
If you like them, go for it. You won't be considered a poser unless you start putting on things like Cobra emblems or GT500 in the side stripe.

 

Is that the correct offset though? It's listed as 50mm. Doesn't sound right.

It depends on how far out you want the wheel & tire to come. The stock wheel is a 17x8 with a +45mm offset. If you kept the same offset, but went to a 9.5" wide wheel like the one in the link, it would stick out .75" (3/4") from where the stock wheel was. This is simply because the wheel got wider. So with a +50mm offset, it wouldn't stick out as much... but only 5mm less.

The problem comes when you start looking at clearance on the inside. There is a lot of room in there, but with a 9.5" wheel you're already losing 3/4" in there. Would another 5mm make a difference? Probably not.

It would certainly look 100 times better than having a much lower offset. I'll put it this way, if I had the choice for my own car, I'd rather have the +50mm than have the +36 I have now.

 

So far, I havent seen anyone go really crazy over those rims, me included. They are ok, and if someone gave me a set mounted on tires, I'd use them. But, IMO, they are just another version of a split 5 spoke rim, kind of like the upgraded GT wheels, which I dont like that much either.

Also, maybe that is because the style that is pretty popular right now is the deeper dish look, and these appear to be flat at the edge of the rim.

For some reason, the bullit style, or classic 5 spoke style, just seems so much more agressive to me.

I have only seen pics though, and they may look a lot better in person.

I like the wheel with one exception. I'm not too keen on chrome. Silly as it may sound, if it were painted silver... I'd like them more.

I guess what I was trying to say is that a 2 dimension pic cant provide the detail you sometimes look for. I have been in a few tire and rim places and seen rims that I didnt like that much from seeing the pic, to saying that they look pretty good in person.
