GT500 vs. GT trunk struts

All;

I had a GT500 rear spoiler installed on my GT about 18 mos. ago. Since it's been on, I've noticed that the trunk doesn't "pop" and stay ajar when I open it.

Does anyone know if the GT500 trunk struts have a stronger lifting capacity?

Thanks

Walt

Just wondering if you have a blackout panel on there too. ?

Mine used to pop just fine, after I added the CDC DT it popped a lot less. After I then added the CDC blackout panel it just pretty much unlatches and I have to pull it up. No biggie.

I will say that I think my problems aren't due to the struts, but rather the springs not having enough pushing power for the weight. I haven't noticed that my decklid closes prematurely or anything after I open it.

Lastly, I'd doubt that there's a different part, but who knows.

Thanks;

Yea, I have the SHR honeycomb panel. I remember it still "popped" slightly after I installed it, now it pretty much just sits there and I need to pull on it while it's unlatching.

It's no big deal really, I just thought it would be nice if it would pop open like it used to...

Mine sticks most of the time, and I have a stock 2005 V6 spoiler. I think it's cuz the weatherstripping is a little dirty, and I don't open my trunk too often. So you may try cleaning the weatherstripping and see if that helps a little.

That's a good idea, I never considered it.
