GT500 or "style" ducktail
Mike
Pulled the trigger on the GT500 style spoiler from Sportwing in Mineral Grey. They've got them for 198.50 shipped if you hit the auction just right at the end with one bid.
Looking forward to getting rid of that stock wing! Looks like I get to lay two more stripes and drill a couple more holes in my car, ha!

Have fun with the stripes... I've done mine twice now and it still isn't perfect lol. Something about that darn angle..... I'm doing it without cutting it into 2 pieces, which is what Ford does (for obvious reasons lol!).
+1 on striping the spoiler....
Rob over at BSM warned me that it was the real deal....He was not kidding. Far from perfect here as well, but after spending three hours on it, (in two pieces)....close enough!!

Well, got the spoiler in Friday, and wanted so bad to put it on Saturday morning, but just couldn't do it. I am not satisfied with the quality of the Sportwing.
1. The top of the spoiler has a very noticeable rippled look. The large upper surface of the spoiler is very rippled and does not flow like one smooth piece. This is very evident with any type of straight line reflection in the paint. Any straight line reflection looks more like a wavy line. The effect almost looks like the paint has runs in it running front to back, but it is actually the spoiler itself and the paint is pretty smooth. Probably a byproduct of the blow molding.
2. The paint is a shade too dark. Probably due to my car fading in the FL sun for two years. But the Mineral Grey spoiler is definitely darker than my trunk lid, though a close match for the side of the rear fender at the right angle.
So, I contacted Sportwing via email. I will let you all know how they respond with their 7 day return policy.
Oh, and I ordered the FRPP GT500 wing this mornining for $176, and will just have to get it painted. Cost more in the long run, but I just couldn't deal with the ripples.

I really wanted to like this spoiler. Such a great deal, and wouldn't have to worry about taking the wing to get painted, going back to pick it up, hope they matched the paint right and no blemishes, etc. But the ripples where just too much for me. Maybe I just got a bad one.
Good news is, Sportwing gave a complete refund this afternoon, and will send out UPS to pick it up. So no problems at all on the return, and no loss. Already boxed it up and sitting by the front door.
Here are some pics, maybe you can see the ripples and the slightly darker color. It was sprinkling just a little, so those are water drops not paint blems. Just wanted to get the pics in the sunlight so you all could see.

Hatchman,
I can definately see the ripples as well as the difference in shade of MG....If mine had looked like that, I would have done the same thing, no doubt. I did not deal with Sportwing, but I am glad they are taking care of you with the return, refund, etc.
Look forward to seeing the new one when you get it. I think they look killer on MG.....
Take care,
Mike

got my spoilerexpress.com gt500 wing in today.. UA... no marks wraped in a foam, took about 10 days. My onloy problem is that I can see they drilled two holes in the same spot ( about 1/2 inch apart) im assuming due to wrong hole first. I dont presently have the car so i dont know when it will get fitted probly mid sept.
I got the FRPP wing in the mail and to the paint shop today. The wing is much better quality than the Dawn/Sportwing I recieved. Very smooth, no ripples, edges and corners are much sharper, already has the studs in it for the stock bolts and no new holes to drill. Should be super easy to install this after I get it back from the shop. I'm very glad I decided to go with the FRPP wing, now just have to worry about the paint matching.
I went with the Ford factory GT500 spoiler and have been happy with it. I bought it from a local dealer and had a local shop shoot the paint and install it. Not to criticize anybody who has gone aftermarket, but some of the feedback I got from the paint shop was interesting. I was a heartbeat away from buying the 3D Carbon spoiler but the price ended up nearly identical with the Ford product from the dealer. When I brought my spoiler over to the shop, there was a red Mustang with a GT500 style spoiler just being finished. I asked the paint shop owner about the job. He told me it was an aftermarket spoiler. He remarked that he was not impressed with the quality (possibly 3D carbon). He said that the factory spoiler has bolts that protrude from the spoiler which he believes are attached to a piece of metal that is embedded inside the spoiler and runs end to end. This gives the bolts a solid mounting platform and good rigidity. The spoiler he just installed had the self-tapping screws which he felt would work loose over time and possibly strip with vibration leaving only the double sided tape holding the spoiler on. And, he said the aftermarket spoiler could bend easily which also implied that there was nothing inside of it to keep it rigid. He also did not like the idea of drilling holes in the outside of the trunk lid. The Ford product was much stronger and would not flex. Both spoilers use the double sided tape in addition to the screws. Is this a huge deal? Maybe not. But, if the prices are the same between Ford and aftermarket GT500 spoilers then it pays to do some homework.

Got mine from Atlanta Mustang a week or two ago. Only problem is I didn't have a helper, and it slipped, tumbled down my trunklid, and my trunklid and spoiler got scratched. Luckily it's only in the clearcoat. Other than that, I'm very happy with it. It's a million times better looking than the stock spoiler.

Got it on. I definitely like the look, and the FRPP quality is much better than the Dawn/Sportwing. Paint match is pretty good, I'm glad I took it by for a paint match, they had 5 variations of TK/Mineral Grey.
