Does anyone know if the plugs on the back of the stock GT fog lights and head lights are the same as the Shelby 500 fog lights and headlights or will some wiring work have to be done. My parts will be here Monday and Ford couldn't tell me. sscobra can ya help me out?

From the looks of the pic I think the only thin you are going to need is the foglight wore extensions from the real GT500 other than that I think the headlights are the same just a different shape to fit the bumper for the GT500

As much as I hate to say it but I have a feeling if I buy the whole kit I am going to have the erge to take a dremel to the gril and cut out more of the diamonds...I just don't like how ford got lazy and did not cut out most of them...I know some of them are to keep the grills strength but some of them look like you could cut them out no problem

They are most likely there for cooling. When I talked with Ford engineers back in 2004 about why they did that on the GTs, they said they did to ensure proper airflow to the radiator.

to me it seems like that is air that is just not getting to the radiator and i believe the more air you get there the less you have to worry about over heating in the engine

Cool. It's a tossup for me now to go this route or the Cervini's hood and grille extensions, both will probably end up costing me the same in the long run. I'd probably rather have the Hertz hood myself over the Shelby one, those grilles on the hood just look weird IMO.

And coolness around the logo, that's the look I want.

They said it was to direct the airflow better.

ssccobra, If you get some time, can you take a pic of everything else that is needed to install the bumper. Like the shields, brackets, isolator and maybe the wiring harness for the foglights?

You do have to have different brackets for the upper mounting location of the gt500. They should be here on Wednesday of next week. Also still working on the foglight wiring issue. I will post pics of parts as I get them. I hope once the brackets come in and the bumper is painted we will be ready for the install. I will document any differences and also what is exactly needed for the conversion once we have completed ours.

Thanks

Talking Post Install Pictures .......

A write up with install procedure would be great for all of us that are going to make the conversion. I will probably purchase the parts once I know the
installation went smooth.

I can't wait to get the parts, have the front end painted and slap it all together !
Step 2: will be the rear spoiler and valence
Step 3: Hood
Step 4: Dash & Intrument Cluster & trim
Step 5: Custom leather seats\
Step 6: Wheels & Goodyear Tires

Also when are you going to test fit your front fascia.
What was the total cost including shipping for your conversion?
(If you don't mind me asking)

rjuice....your welcome

Slowly but surely parts are coming in. A couple of the upper brackets are slow coming in. Ounce we can get everything in and on the car I will give a detailed list of parts needed to complete the swap.

Also, if you look at the pics in rjuice's post you'll notice that the lower grill does not have the openings for the holes in the valance. However, there is an ouline on the back of the grill the same size of the holes in the lower grill. I still think these are for brake ducts. Also, seems like I remember seeing something about the trans-am team or whoever were switching to the GT500 front fascia some time in the future????
