I think you could make a case for it if it were a V6 with absolutley no perfomance mods....that was all badged up like the 40th Anniversery Super Snake....I dont know...I think it would be on a case by case basis...

I concider rice by reaction.....an eyeroll.
A fake GT500 would just be a disapointment...but it would look cool.

How do you get rice out of adding a great looking front bumper to car? I agree that falsely badging a car isn't on my list of favorite things, that being said there's two member on here that has an exact replicas of GT500's and based on pics you can't tell the difference between their car and my car. Well except that one of them is Windveil blue and they only made one true Windveil blue GT500. That being said, it's up to the owner to badge their car how they want as they pay for it. However they're the one's that are going to have to explain to people who ask that it's not truly a GT500. As for adding the looks of a GT500, I say go for it and do what makes you happy. I bought a real one cause I loved the looks, and the motor didn't hurt either.

Putting the bumper on is okay but with a 4.0 or 4.6 people have issues with badges. There was a guy who made a clone of a 65 GT350 , on the rocker stripe he put the word clone on it (See below).

G.T 350
##clone##

I thought this was very tasteful and an honest representation of the car.

I don't know what you mean by rice unless someone was putting neon under their car or covered everything with carbon fiber looking stickers.

It's your car, do what ever you want with it. It shouldn't matter what other people think.

Not rice at all.......it's a Ford product made for the Mustang, not some euro aftermarket bumper. I did this conversion then backed it up with performance mods. When I think of rice I think of big wings, euro clear tail lights, way to many ground effects, and stickers or crazy graphics.

By the way...........I DO NOT have Shelby badging on my car. I personally don't think it's right to do that, however if someone does use Shelby badging I would hope they wouldn't try to pass their car off as a real Shelby. Still don't think it's rice though.

Not at all. I find Cobra badges on a non-Cobra in poor taste, but to each his own. That still doesn't make it rice.

GT500 Bodykit = Sweet

GT500 Badges on a Non-GT500 Regardless of Bodykit = POSER

Any questions?

No. After watching (and going to) Barrett-Jackson yet another year, just look at all the "re-creations" that are sold. As long as it's disclosed that a car is not original, there's absolutely nothing wrong with "converting" a car to look/perform as its "upgraded" sister. Take a look at mine. You cannot tell the difference. In fact, my '05 GT with a Whipple and my tune feels significantly stronger than my stock '08 GT500. It's true folks.

Willie, your car was one of the cars I was refering to that I knew of that had a complete conversion including badges. You have them side by side and who can tell the difference. I think your cars look great and you have added the power to back it up.

Simply adding the Shelby body parts (or any other manufacturer's, for that matter) does not make it rice. But, if it's not a real Shelby car, here's what I think:

Rice:

Not rice:

I think that's the perfect rear badge for a Shelby clone. Just my $0.02.

BTW, I have the GT500 steering wheel on order. I don't think it's rice because I'm not putting the GT500 center cap on it.

There were no GT500's when I got my car and the Supersnake wasnt ot last December when I got my hood. I dont consider myself rice, however I do love rice. I merely personalized MY car the way I like, and I think I did it with pretty decent tast. I love the GT look, thats why I originally bought it, but I really liked this front end. And when the Vortech H.O. goes in next Month, a Cobra might find its way on my grill but there will be no Shelby or GT500 plaques anywhere. I do have the KR wheels on order and I believe they say SHELBY FORGED on the lip. I cant help that one though.
