GT 500 Fascia Grille Emblems - Snake or Pony?

As soon as I can get together the cash for parts to do the GT 500 front end upgrade, I'll do it. But, I'm not sure I want to put the snake emblem on. I'm not trying to make a Shelby GT 500 clone. I just like the look of the front fascia. Has anybody gone with a running pony on their GT 500 grille. Or, maybe just left it plain? Pics would be appreciated.

How are you guys attaching the emblem to the grille, just with the stick on adhesive that comes with the emblem or something more (like epoxy or nus and bolts)?

Definately go with the Pony...Thats one thing I never will get is why people put badges on a car to make people think its something different.

Hey Joe.......I did a small write up w/ pics on one of my posts about the pony emblem, complete with pics of my bracket. It's under the exterior mods section. I can't remember exactly where it is. I'm actually on a deer hunting trip right now. I can email you pics of my bracket when I get home on Sunday.

Thanks Rob. I'll take a look for it on a search. The pony looks really good, but you know that one with GT looks pretty good as well. I'll probably go with the running pony. I'm not opposed to anyone putting anything on their cars they want to. Why not? I had a lot of Cobra exterior and interior parts on my '96, but I just didn't want to put a snake on it. It still had GT on both sides. I feel the same way about this '05. Just don't want to put a snake on it. It's not a Shelby GT 500, but it will have a lot of GT 500 parts. I just like the way that car looks.

I agree with your opinion on making the car something that it is not but I really think this new emblem would be ok to install on a GT.

Putting Cobras on your non Cobra Mustang is a lot like interracial dating. Most people won't care or notice, but some people are going to:

Give you funny looks or shake their head
Tell you that it's just not right
Call you names

If it's what you want to do, do it, but just be prepared for the above reactions.

It's the world we live in.

Oh brother, high-school..! "Dude, you've got a fake Shelby, you're such a poser!".

I did the conversion, and by mistake the snake came with the other parts. I think I'm going to put it on, even though I wouldn't have ordered it. It's not that big a deal. I still have the GT on the gas cap. This whole discussion is a bit absurd. At the end of the day even the rear gas cap is not really for gas, the emblems are all made out of cheap plastic, and those bloody vents on the hood are really embarrasing. Might as well throw the snake on there too. To be honest, I think the new Shelby is a bit of a joke, the extra parts are so cheaply made. I'm kind of happy I'm not driving the real thing. Imagine it this way...two guys are driving past you and one says to the other 'look at that idiot in the shelby, he paid 20,000 over msrp to drive around in a car that has a cheap plastic interior, and that's barely faster than a GT', who has the last laugh then?

For years I took my Ramblers to the show field and took a lot of crap from the public,my peers and friends in general. To me the Cobra represents Ford performance and excellence. While everyone is paying tribute to their favorite icons(Shelby's,Mach 1,Elenor,Bullitts ETC.) with their S-197's one little snake won't really matter,if it does I pity the nose picker who sticks his head up my ****.Welcome to my world

I vote for the pony, I don't have the GT500 front end, but I just used the stock adhesive on mine and added a little extra 3M tape to give a little extra stick. It is on there really good and I would not think a bracket would be necessary, however if I had one available I would have used it.

Hey Brandon, I just opened up one of the links you posted. I don't know why I didn't see it before. But, I've got my answer. I'll just use the chrome running pony from the GT grille and center it. Looks great. Is that blue coupe yours?

Thumbs up Sorry guys & gals, I think .....

The Cobra is a powerful symbol. Am adding it on mine, along with my forged internals, whipple supercharger (12-15 lbs) of boost, six speed tranny w/ alum. driveshaft and bullitt proof rear end !!!

If you got the muscle to backup the symbol - throw them on !!!
Heck thats my plan.

AFBLUE- Very well put.

I guess I just feel the way I do because before this car I had a 2001 Roush Stage 1, but since it was the V6 version I got a ton of crap from all sorts of people saying it wasn't a true Roush. I really tried not to pay attention to any of it, but I just know how it feels to have the look and badges of a true muscle car but not the power to back it up.

So I guess at the end of the day it comes down to how much you want to put up with from other people just like AFBLUE so elequently compared to 'Interracial Dating.'
