I hope you guys get the 16 for the big discount , if you do you guys owe me a beer ! When I called RK Sport yesterday to see if my hood had been shipped yet , I told Mo/Moe , I'm not sure about the spellling , that there was a lot of interest in the hood on this forum. He said for a group there would be a discount , of course that doesn't do those of us who have already ordered any good. But I'm glad it'll do the rest of you some good ...

I am curious as to how it's "functional"? It may allow cooler air into the engine area but I don't see how that is "ram" air? Can somebody illuminate me on this?

I would also like to know about the functionality of this hood style. If I remember correctly California Mustang's website says for best results use a cold air intake kit. I may still be interested even if it is for looks, with minimal air flow.

QUESTIONS:
1. Does this mean the hood is only for looks until a cold air intake kit is designed to draw air from this location?

2. Does the hood come painted?

FYI...the California Mustang part is $745.95.

The hood is not painted AND my body shop put in over 12 hours fixed the scoop, and all 4 corners. They were rounded off and the lines did not match up withe body. Be aware, if you want it to look nice, they will have to put some time in to match the lines as well as straighten the filtergalss.

But the scoop flows air to the STOCk box location. If you use the stock airbox, it shuld force it in there. If you use an aftermartket CAI, then ... it should blow fresh, cold air on it.

BTW, my shop has it all prepped - and should be ready to painted it in the next week or so.

Brian, Can you explain in detail what they had to do to the scoop and the corners? Thanks!

If you look at your current hood, lets say the back of it ...

The corner and back lines of the hood, match up wit the lines of the fender where it meets the corner of the hood. Now, the corners were rounded off, instead of pointed, so they were 1/8 of an inch too sort. So they had to build them up, on all 4 corners.

Also, the scoop nostriles were in bad shape - fiberglass egding, rought, etc. So, they removed the hood scoop (front 6 inches) removed the grating and smoothed out the nostriles.

I hope this paints a better picture.

The hood is properly dammed from under to allow cold air to the filter. Check the web site.

Just talked to the shop that is doing mine and it has the same problem with the corners being too short and rounded. One of the corners of mine was shorter than the other so they had to add material to the corners. The front of my scoop was clean though.

I fit the hood myself and the hinges had to be modified (not just slotted like the directions said) to allow the hood to come far enough forward to match the front of the body! This hood is a good looking hood but beware that it takes a lot of work to make it fit right.

Right now it is looking like I will get to see the finished product by mid week. If they find any other problems I will let you know. I have e-mailed the RKSport people and sent them pictures of the problems I had. I also talked to them on the phone and they said they would get back to me -- BUT -- nothing back yet.
