Having seen the front grille for the '07 GT500, I now wish the GT had the same look (see attached). Anyone else share this feeling, and does anyone know of a mod that might be in the works for the GT?

I'm certain there will be something. I doubt it will be cheap.

hey you cant do that! if you dont have a "real shelby" you cant add any of the body parts to your Mustang. If you do you will be a poser and trying to make your car something that its not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well its what the of the owners say when people mod their cars to special editions etc.....

Isn't the California Special going to look a lot like the Shelby just like the original did?

We've heard the rumors of the CS coming out so you may only have to wait a little while longer.

you would have to replace the front fascia, grille and hood to get that look. Now, time to move this to the exterior mod section. Oh, an otusbubo, welcome to the forum

thanks for the welcome, gentlemen. and i see the point about posing (and appreciate the ribbing!), though i'm not sure when that posing line is crossed. i don't want any cobras or stripes or labels...just a fine looking grille! and thanks for the CS tip. i'll keep my eyes peeled and show a little patience.

p.s. i definitely didn't sign up as owning an '05 GT. me, i'm driving a '76 VW beetle convertible, so i'm pretty sure i'm due for an upgrade to the GT. from what i understand, i can expect a horsepower increase...

Its probably going to be expensive as the headlight assembly etc. will have to be changed (look at the angled piece next to the lights versus the more vertical one on the GT)

I may or may not be in the minority here but I actually PREFER the GT front end. To me, the fogs just make the car. I think the lower grille of the GT could be made sportier however. Maybe they could have fixed this by changing the lower grille shape??

The main thing I can't seem to get over with the Cobra is the car looks like it is smiling. The front end doesn't intimidate me whatsoever, which is a characteristic I'd like especially on the Cobra model.

Dan, I agree completely about the fogs making the GT. I suppose in a perfect world I'd get to keep the fogs and change the grill. As They say, to each his own.

Hrm...I did a quick job on the cars with "paint." I think fogs would look good on the GT500 style grille/headlights...too.

Just a couple other ideas...

[attachmentid=32155] I dig this one...

I'd have to go with #3---and it's only fitting that the GT500 have its own setup. Fine work, GhostGT.

Thanks otusbubo. Its just a quicky I did in Paint to see what it will look like. Im actually planning to get that same type of grille for my GT as soon as I can find some info on it... I don't really dig the stock GT grille.

Isn't that front bumper available thru FRPP? I thought they were going to make everything from the GT-R available.

Last weekend, I went on the SVTOA poker run for MDA. One of the stops we made was at the PMP (Pure Mustang Performance) shop. These are the guys who make the verticle door kits and the '05 front end for the '99-'04 stangs. While the owner was talking to us, he said one of the upcoming products was going to be a GT500 kit for the '05s that includes both the front and rear facias + front and rear spoilers, grill and possibly HID lights (extra $$). He said it would probably be early '06, they were still working out the details with Ford. Don't quote me, but I think he said the kit would be around $800-$1000 unpainted with standard lights, not HID.
Here's a link to their site: http://puremustangperformance.com/

I don't know... putting stripes on a V6/GT is one thing, but modifying your frotn and rear fascias to look like the Shelby? That's a little lame IMO.

I'd much rather go with one of the aftermarket looks... :notnice: :notnice:

With that said though, I do agree that the lower half of the GT front fascia could use a little work. I think the painted insert that the show car had made a big difference though.
