Grille questions?

NOTE: Please don't laugh at my photochop skills. Actually, laugh if you must. They are pretty bad.

With that out of the way... I definately want a new grille for my 07 GT. The stock grille is just too...plain for me. That being said, I found a grille i *LOVE*, with the exception of two things: 1. price 2. too much . Toying around with my terrible photo-chop skills, I think it would look great with the "mesh" blackened out. What do you think?

How would I go about painting only the "mesh"? Tape off the chrome parts and spray painting? What color? What type? I have no idea what I'm doing!

What do you think of this instead?

It's from http://www.webelectricproducts.com/

Either way, I think what you posted would look a thousand times better blacked out. Or simply cut-out the extra bling.

That would be great if it had the verticle spikes comming from the corral. Thats really the reason that grille caught my eye. Horizontal AND verticle spikes.

Hmmm... cut out the extra bling. Never thought of that. I can't cut a sandwich in a straight line, much less a piece of steel.
But we'll see either way.

If you needed to go the mesh route, I'd take it in and get it powdercoated black. I think that would look a lot better, and a lot more durable than spraypainting for sure.

It's easy to cut out, but hard to make it look "finished". What are you thinking about trying to do? I've worked with GT grilles a LOT trying to make a grille w/o fogs or the pony (with very little success) so if I can answer any questions, I'll try.

mesh grille

if the gt "heritage edition" which you posted is like the v-6 "heritage edition" grill i have the mesh is seperate from the stainless steel outer trim. Have it powder coated or paint it. Cant remember the name of the place in miamisburg that did some powder coating for me a few years back.

If the mesh is seperate, can you just leave it off and not install it?

If the mesh is seperate, then that would be great! That would cut down on a lot of hassle.

Found some instructions online for the instillation of the V6 version of the grille, I assume the GT version will be similar.

That being said, it looks moderately complicated to me. It requires you to remove the factory grille and DRILL into it!! This makes me nervous. Very nervous. "I can't F-up or my car is ruined!" nervous. But on the plus side, it looks completely possible the mesh can be left out. I've e-mailed the company to see if they have GT instructions just incase they are different.

Now to save up $300 for a freaking grille, half of which I won't even be using...
