Grill Removal

Hey everyone! Been around here for quite a while but it's my first post.

Hope i'm posting this in the right section.

I'm replacing the grill in my 08...not an overlay. Got as far as removing the top right tab on stock grill...that wasn't to easy. I decided before i went any farther...and screwed the tabs or slots up...i'd better ask how you guys that have done this got the tabs out of the slots.

Thanks.

billh

Once you get 1 or 2 tabs loose the rest come out pretty easy. When I have removed mine (and it's been afew times) if I get a corner and top tab loose I can usually just pull on the grille and it comes right out.

Yeah, start at the ones you can reach with a small screwdriver first. Then pursuade the rest out with an abrupt, firm, pull, one at a time. Get all of the ones within a screwdrivers reach first. Lay a towel over your bumper but under the grill just as a caution.
Also, patience and beer help the first time you remove it.

There's really no 'trick' that I know of.

Thanks guys.

I was about ready to do just that...grab a hold and give a yank. I wasn't to concerned about breaking the tabs...just didn't want to screw up the slots.

Mine didn't. I don't/didn't see any other way to get it out. Good luck.

You just gotta use sheer force pretty much. It is pretty tough, but I got the hang of it.

Thanks KH.

Got it done yesterday morning. Just like you guys said...got the top one on each side loose with a screw driver then just pulled the rest of them out.

Done both the upper and lower grills in less than an hour.

Thanks again guys!!!
Much appreciated.
