Ghost Stripes
you cant do ghost stripes in vinyl so they have to be painted most "ghost" flames and stripe are done the same color but with eather a shade darker in color than your car is or done just with peral in the clear
look at the stripes on this '05. only in a ceratin light can you see the stripes. Anything "ghosted" has to be done in the same olour as the body, with a slight variation, so that in a certain light oyu notice them.
I was considering ghost stripes as opposed to solid stripes. They might look better with the legend lime then a solid. Still undecided
Yeah they were shown on the SEMA pictures. I think those ghost stripes are soooo nice man. I want to get them on my Silver GT. Since they have to be painted, anyone know around how much that would cost? Rough estimates here...

An easy and affective way to do "ghost" stripes is to use clear and add some pearl to it. This way the stipes show up when the light hits it at a certain angle. I did my 73 Grande in Colorado red and did gold pearl stripe on the hood. You could barely make out the stripe from one angle but could easily see it from another. When I get home I will post a few pics so you can get the general idea.
Well, how much is completely going to depend on who does it and what kind of work you want done. Ideally your body guy will rough the paint where he's going to stripe it, paint, then clear coat. To get the clear coat to blend takes some pretty good skills.
Some people might just clear coat the entire body pannel wher it's applied.... i.e. the entire hood, the entire roof, deck lid and bumper covers. That way you don't have a difference in the middle of the pannel.
Then you have those that would just lay the strips on with no clear coat. It'd be ok for a bit, but you could start to flake at the edge of the stripes.
I wouldn't be shocked if someone told me $1200 to do it properly. heck.... I'm sure Maaco or Earl Shibe will do it dirt cheap.... you get what you pay for. Just make some phone calls, brother.... see what you can get. Certainly ask them how they do it, and go with your gut.

What I really liked about the stripes on the orange Mustang (besides the ghosting) was the shape. Most everyone who stripes these cars uses constant width stripes from front to back, and they typically run all the way to the bottom of the bumper, or if they stop on the hood, they go all the way to the edge.
The orange car had stripes that followed the character line of the hood and varied in width -- narrower at front and wider at the back, and instead of going all the way to the front of the hood, they stopped about an inch short. Plus they were trimmed in a 1/4" pinstripe all the way around. Sort of reminds me of '70 Chevelle SS style stripe, but works really well with the car.
