Getting new rims with no TPMS added question.

Has anyone here bought after market rims and not had the TPMS sensors added? Will the only thing that happens is the light on the dash come on or will it make noise too? I want to get some new wheels and tires but feel like spending the $200 to have new sensors installed if I dont have too. I am keeping my stock wheels as winter wheels so I wont remove the sensors from them. Am I better off saving myself a headache and just get sensors for the new wheels?

That tpms light is going to annoy you. Spend the extra cash, you"ll thank yourself later.

one set of sensors for 2 sets of wheels

You can take your sensors out and put whem in a pressurized chamber and stow in you trunk. Use PVC to make a chamber and install a schrader valve, sensors inside and pressurize to 35 psi, problem solved. Good luck!

In the 4-sale section I have 4 sensors and the re-learn tool (new) all for $125. That's what I used senors for (snow tires).

No, you can't. At least not with anything readily available to consumers. Maybe the dealer can, but they'd likely get in serious trouble if they got caught.

My summer/autocross wheels/tires don't have the TPMS sensors in them, and I don't really miss them. I thought the light would really annoy me, but the only time it bothers me a little bit is at night, during the day I barely notice it. No beeping that I've noticed, just the light, and the light doesn't even come on until you've driven at least 20 miles or so. Since my commute is only 14 miles one way, my TPMS light often doesn't come on at all. If it does come on, after I let the car sit overnight and drive it the next day, the light stays off until I've driven more than 20 miles again.

I bought my wheels without the TPMS, have not had to hit the reset button near as often as i thought i would, i may go months without having to hit it.
Save the money for something else.

Not sure what year you have but I have a 2008 GT. I noticed on many sites that it prompts you to get a set if it is 08 and up.... Anyways the TPMS wil go off about 20 to 30 minutes into your drive and will turn on with a beep. If you stay under that, and you turn off your car, your ok. If it does go off, after a day it resets automatically. It is just s nuisance

I swapped out the wheels on my 07 V6 and the new setup did not have the TPMS sensors...other than hitting the reset button after I started up the car to turn off the light I had no other problems. But I must say it did annoy me enough after a while that I decided to buy new bands and transferred my sensors from my old wheels to my new wheels.....problem solved. New bands ran $80 bucks and another 40 for install.
