I was looking at 05 Mustang pictures today and I notice something. On all of the pictures I saw, the gas tank covers seemed flush with the 1/4" panel but the cover on my gas tank is recessed about a 1/4". How is the cover on your 05 mounted, flush or recess?

I will post a pic tomorrow, it is dark out and the flash is reflecting off the car.

You mean the fuel door??? If so, it's supposed to be flush.

OK, you made me go and double check mine. It's not perfectly flush. The side near the hinge is very slightly recessed... 1/16 - 1/8 inch. Actually, since you made me check, the top was in a little further than the bottom, I easilly tweaked it so the top and bottom and side are now perfectly flush.

My fuel door became completely out of wack and was part sticking out and part recessed. The dealer had to adjust it. Not sure how it happened there weren't any marks around it?

I noticed this yesterday when i washed my car. I only have one rubber stopper on the inner part of the tank, think on the bottom. There is a hole on the top which looks like a rubber stopper should be-and I was wondering if that is why the top is in further than the bottom.

What about me, I just looked and I have no rubber stops! That explains the recessed look.
