I haven't seen one pic of how they plan to mount the front plates on the GT. THis is a big issue to me. I like how they did the front end for the V6. darn law enforcement in Texas forcing us to have plates on front and back!

I've been pulled over here in OH because I didn't have a front plate on my car, thing is, it was my parents car and it came from AZ without a front plate bracket. I still got the warning. I'm the only person I know that's ever been pulled over for no front plate. I plan to keep my 05 "front-plate-less" for as long as possible.

Anyways, if you look at the front bumper of the 05, you will see a small indented portion where the front plate would be located.

... I'd hate to be pulled over because I didnt have a frong plate though :-p

Hey, it should look craploads better than the Corvette's plate bracket!

I have an FSU plate on the front of my Ranger. I couldn't imagine being forced to have a real plate up there. *shivers*

The vast majority of the time people get pulled over for a front plate violation the real reason for the stop has nothing to do with the front plate. Since it is illegal to profile people or pull someone over for "no reason" the police have tricks they can use to make a stop "legal". For example a cop watches you drive by and something bothers him or he thinks you or your car look suspicious....he also noticed no front plate and that is all he needs. So he pulls you over and has a closer look and snoops around a bit and writes you up for the no plate crap assuming he finds nothing else to get you for.

I live in Ohio, and many years ago I was issued a ticket for not having a front plate. I fought it, because when I bought the used car off the dealer, it didn't even have a bracket. I also pointed out to the judge that motorcycles do not have a front plate - lol
I ended up only paying court fees!

I am not 100% sure, but I think they changed the law in Ohio now, and you don't have to have a front plate.

Why do some states require people have front plates, do they have problems with people driving down the roads in reverse?

i know you're jokin, but just in case you were really wondering why we have to have them, in San Diego, we have red light cameras, and although they often take pictures of the back plate, it is more convenient for them to grab the front plate, along with your smile and your VIN

I have noticed nothing like that on the GT's. Only on the V6.

Ohio Revised Code 4503.21 states in part… “No person who is the owner or operator of a motor vehicle shall fail to display in plain view on the front and rear of the motor vehicle the distinctive number and registration mark, including any county identification sticker and any validation sticker…”

I could have sworn I saw the same indent on the GT as on the V6

I live in VA, where you have to have a front plate. I don't have a place to put a front license plate on one of my cars, so I simply put it in the front window. I've been driving that particular car for about 4 years and have yet to be pulled over, for any reason.

I know that I love the fact of not having a front plate here in Arizona.
BUT.....
When I lived in Colorado, there was a referendum to have the front plates (which are required) removed. Well, one of the state legislators placed it on a ballot, but a week after that, his daughter was the victim of a hit and run (she was a pedestrian). The only reason that they caught the driver was, you guessed it, his front license plate had fallen off during the incident.

So, I can see good in having the front plate, but I don't miss having it one bit.

I am very familar with that sort of tactic and I hate it! One of the many reasons I cringe when I see a cop parked, especially one of those Evil Knievel dude's! I used to drive a Black 1972 Chevy Impala and even though everthying on it was up to code, I still got pulled over once or twice, weekly.

I happen to be a police officer in VA, and I have to say legendlimetime is pretty accurate with his post. I've stopped many cars because of no front plate displayed, and it usually wasn't just because of the license plate. It gives me an opportunity to see if anything else is wrong with the car or the driver. If nothing else is wrong with the driver or car, I'll tell the driver he needs to get the license plate on the front of the car, and let him go on a warning. The only time I'll write a ticket for no front license plate, is if there are other violations, since that is the initial reason I stopped the car. Also, technically you could also get stopped or receive a ticket for putting your license plate on the dash in the window. Theres a code for having tags or license plates improperly displayed. I've stopped cars for having front plates in the window as well.
