Front Bumper Holes
Front Bumper Holes
Ok,
Surely I'm not the first person to ask this question, but I can't seem to find a good answer...so here goes:
My 07 arrived with the factory front license plate frame attached before I could tell them to leave it off.
I made short work of the cheap pop rivets holding it in place, but of course now I have 2 holes to contend with.
Short of getting a new fascia, I have to believe that there are some sort of rubber grommets, plugs, whathave you out there that won't look to bad if painted and force fit in there. So here's the question: Have any others of you faced this annoying issue, and how did you handle it? (Even better, WHERE did you go to find your solution?). I thought to myself, "self, home depot has EVERYTHING. Surely I can find some rubber fittings to do the trick. NO dice. Now need the TMS'rs to help me find the way.
Thanks!!!

Dave, I had the same thing on mine when I bought it. I delicately used a small and gentle round file to make sure the hole was smooth and then painted it with touch-up. The hole is still there, but it's smooth enough that at first glance it looks like they came tapped from the factory. It's a so-so fix, but good e'nuff for me.
Dave, I personally don't know why the F they would put a front lisence plate frame on ANY Mustang let alone a factory order on ANY car thats registered in PA. We don't have front plates!! If you haven't yet picked it up, I would tell them FLAT OUT, fix the holes (i.e take it to their body shop, have them filled, and paint them to match) or you won't pick the car up! Its that simple. As you know, I work at a dealership, and I NEVER put on front plates on ANY car let alone a Mustang. We only put on front brackets if the customer asks for them. If you don't mind me asking, which dealer did you order from? If you don't want to post, send me a PM. I hope you get this squared away. Sorry to hear about your trouble bud! This dealer gets a BIG
from me.
Bumper Plugs
Hey thanks, GTStallion! That might be just the ticket!
Jeff: Long story. I was having trouble finding the exact white GT/CS vert that I wanted 7 months ago without ordering it directly from the factory. I ended up getting a good deal on the only one in the zone at the time, but it came from a dealer in New Jersey
(get the picture now?)
Thanks for your righteous indignation on my part, though!!

I went to a local graphics shop and had a vinyl decal of my license plate made (reflective white backing and blue numbers) looks just like the real thing. Trimmed it and stuck it on.
1. Looks great
2. Still within "the spirit of the law"
3. Never been given a hard time by "the man" either here in Canada, or in the US.
4. Great conversation starter.
Give it a try.

Covered mine up with some plugs from autozone. I painted them with touch up paint so they'd blend better. Works great since the cars black. I forgot they were there untill I read this thread.
I just striped over the holes. It's really hard to notice. In California, a front plate is a requirement, so if/when I get pinched, I'll be able to find holes to attach plate. Hope that never happens, as the law uses the front plate (and headlamps) to reflect their LIDAR (Laser) beams. As you can tell, GRAYPNY, TACOBILL, DOCTORQ, (and probably a whole host of other California TMS'ers) have chosen to be defiant
Front plates are :gay:.

I don't understand why front plates are necessary. Bikes don't need them.
They're a requirement here, but our '05 doesn't have them, and when I get my GT/CS front bumper for my '07, it won't either.

Unfortunatley, front plates are required by law in Texas. Of course, I've never had front plates on any of my 'nice' cars. When I got my 07 GT, it had the two holes in the front bumper.
I went to the Auto parts store and bought some 'bumper repair' goop. Most any auto parts store should have some, it's basically some plastic compound in a dual syringe that, when mixed - hardens within minutes.
I cleaned up (filed down) the holes, and then applied the 'goop'. you can be reaqlly ****, and sand it down and re-apply - but I just filled the holes and painted it with touch. You have to look really close to see where the holes were.
