Fold Down License Plate

Hey guys, I got an email for a new product the other day and was meaning to post it but I think I deleted the message! It was a front license plate holder that folded down under the car when you didn't want it out. It was pretty cool but I can't remember what company had it out. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

California Mustang has one on their site under new products. However, it's been there since 06.

I just bought that from Moss Motors and have it here now. Unfortunately my car isn't here yet but is being built next week. Once it's here i'll be able to try it on for size and see how it goes!

So what do you think about it? I have been trying to figure out what to do about a front plate.

Off topic, but wanted to congratulate you on buying mods for your car before you even have it! LOL, I volunteer to be your sponsor- let the addiction begin.

The plate frame is a solid piece of plastic with a strong aluminum mounting bracket, but the sides of the bracket where the frame slides on feel a bit flimsy. It has to be manually pulled in and out, but once all the way out it is spring loaded going from horizontal to vertical position. It also comes with a cheap aluminum stip that can also be used for mounting.

Pics showing the bracket in use are for a regular GT, but since I am waiting for my GT/CS i'm not too sure exactly how it will mount. The instructions do mention drilling holes under the bumper for mounting.

I will post some pics of it and scan the instructions tomorrow night and put them up in case anyone wants to see them. It's bedtime here on the east coast!

The plate mod was important since I didn't want the holes drilled. Massachusetts has to have a front plate, but many people still have one plate and were grandfathered in to stay that way when they want to 2 plates. I could probably get away with one plate since many cars are like that here, but if the car attracts attention, it may get noticed.

At least with this fold down holder, I could get away with leaving it down. If I got stopped... whoops, it must have flipped down on it's own! hehehe

I have it on my 05. Denlem is right, the sides of the rail are flimsy. I accidently hit a parking block with it completely bending the rail. I was able bend it back into usable shape with just my hands but now the plate looks just a bit crooked. If you have to run a front plate like we do in Illinois, then I recommend one. It wasn't the products fault, I was just an idiot.

Thats the same plate holder we're talking about. It's also $5.00 more expensive there!
