Hey all, I'm posting some pics of my new hood, painted and finished. The hood is a RK Sport Ram Air Hood, it's fully functional, and mates right up to my Steeda CAI. Thanks for all your ideas on how to paint it! Now, I'm going to paint the rear spoiler black, and the area in between the tail lights, I'll also be putting stripes along the sides of her (on the very bottom). Hope you like!

I've read a lot of negative comments regarding that hood. Did you have any problems with fit and finish? I do like the looks but a lot of people have mentioned how bad the fit and finish was.

I read the same posts, but haven't had the same problems. The alignment, finishing and painting only cost me $434. To fit it, we had to lossen the bolts on the hinges, to move everyhting forward a little bit, but it only took a couple of hours to have it perfect. I have absolutely no complaints about the hood. I've had it at 130mph and the hood only lifts about 1/4", which is comparable to the lift I was getting with the stock hood. I'm not sure why so many people hav had problems with this thing, they probably should have sent it back and gotten a new one.

How does the car feel while stomping on it? Can you tell a difference performance wise over the stock hood? Any gains I imagine, would be felt on the road since most dyno's are ran with the hood up.

BTW, car looks wicked!!!!!!!!

Kory , I've got the same hood , it's supposed to be finished tomorrow and installed on Friday. I believe I got the 3rd one released , the one that was left after Bryan got the one that he had all the problems with. Like you , mine did require a little work , but not like him.

Anyway , I wanted to give you a heads up on it that Dario at Steeda told me about. When I had it on for the trial fit last week , I took it by to show him. He really like the way that it fit up with the CAI. The next thing he did was to check in the latch area and said there was no metal plate behind it and that I needed hood pins. Steeda puts a metal plate behind the latch area on their hoods to reinforce it and these hoods don't have that. He said that because of all the air flow that the 05 mustang has in the front end , that on the racing circuit the hoods had been blowing off at the high speeds they attained. These were the factory hoods and not fiberglass ones like these , so I'm having the body shop install pins. Thought you might want to know about it ...

I have been thinking about the hood pin idea too. I dont like the way they look , but I would hate for my hood (and money) to be blown off

How does your steeda cai hook up to the ram air hood. I thought tubing went straight from throttle body location to tubing to maf sensor to filter with cover. How do you get from that to attaching to your hood if you dont mind letting me know. Does it come with different tubing or gaskets etc.

The Steeda CAI has a conical filter and a heat shield that separates it from the rest of the engine compartment. The heat shield has a rubber gasket around the edge and the hood sits on top of that , so it actually forms a box with the hood as the top. With the ram air hood , the opening is right over the filter and drops air directly on top of it inside the box. After they put the hood on for a fitting , I had it on for about a week while they used my stock hood to match the paint. After driving I could stop and open the hood and heat would rise off the rest of the engine compartment , but the filter itself would be cold to the touch. Between the heat shield and the hood , the area inside the box is definitely getting much colder air than it normally would ...

Steve, I realize this post is now over 3 months later, but do you have any pictures of the completed hood? I'm thinking of getting the RK Sport Ram Air Hood and there is just not a lot of info or pictures of it that I've found on this site or others.

Thanks!
