Finally Installed a Chin Spoiler

Or maybe a better title would be, had the chin spoiler installed....

So my wife, in her quest to understand just exactly what it is we all see in this obsession with Mustangs, has been doing some extensive reading here on this, and other forums, and trying to absorb as much knowledge as she can about our cars, mods, terminology, etc. So when the new chin spoiler showed up yesterday morning, she was anxious to throw on the grubby clothes, and crawl under the front with me and give "Modding" a go. Personally, I think she did a great job, especially since she really has not turned wrenches to any extent before this. I walked her through the process, but she did all the work. (With the exception of drilling one of two holes in the front fascia).

So take a look, and let us know how it looks, and more importantly, how she did on her first mod........

Wow - that is very nice. I know they are going after the 69-70 look there, even though I'm more into the "wraparound" of the 71-73 / S197 Shelby look, the fit and workmanship there look really nice. I may have to do some homework on them for our customers that don't want to go the "splitter" route...

Thanks guys, appreciate it very much....

The part number for this is 13467. My understanding from Willpak is that it SHOULD be carried by American Muscle, Auto Truck Toys, California Mustang, and Mustangs Unlimited. However, my search on these sites did not turn a result. You may need to call them and find out......

Having said that, I did in fact get a hit for this chin spoiler at..........JC Whitney website....

Hope this helps, and again, thanks for the positive feedback. Both I and my new "mechanic" appreciate it.....

Here are a few more pics from the installation. Super easy install. As you can see, it uses the existing four bolt under the front fascia, with added fender washers. It also uses four additional bolts, two each side. Two of those four additional bolt holes are already there, so all told, you need to drill two 3/8 inch holes, and install eight bolts.....

Simple install, all bolts and washers inclusive, and great fit and workmanship......

So it already comes black textured? How much lower does the front sit than stock? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Yeah Rich, it is already textured as shown....I have not actually measured to height loss, but I will check that out tomorrow and let you know. My guess is 2 inch max, but I will check it out......

Looks great!!! Did you paint the lower opening of your front bumper black for it to blend?

Hey, thanks again gents, appreciate the positive feedback. Actually, the black area you are talking about is a blackout sticker that I got on E Bay some time back. I was running it before I installed the chin. My "mechanic / wife" and I chatted about leaving it, or removing it when she did the install. She was in the "leave it" court, I was in the "remove it" court.....

Guess who won?? LOL Geez, give em a wrench..... But I have to say the more I look at it, I believe it does blend better like it is now...

Looks good...wifey did a good job!
Thanks, I think she did as well, especially for a noob......

Thanks all,
Mike

Very nice! It really is a subtle combination of a spoiler/splitter. I love my SHR Legend splitter, but this is one I would really consider if I had to do it again.
