Fang Performance Chin Spoiler

I hit some debris on the freeway on Saturday, and it ripped off that little "factory spoiler" on the V6 front bumper... Since I need to replace it anyway, I thought about going aftermarket... Has anyone some experience with Fang Performance products / installed the V6-Chin Spoiler ? Is the install difficult and will it replace the original part or do I have to get that anyway?

Any input / advise is welcome, thanks !

I think Fang is out of business now. You may still be able to get parts from them, but I don't think they are producing anything anymore.

Great, now that I finally decide to pull the trigger on that one... Are there any retailers or can you only order from them directly?

I found one on eBay... I'm either going to take that one or I'll go with the CDC, but the CDC for the V6 is not "aggressive" enough, IMO...

Ben sorry to hear. I just cracked my CDC Chin last week, when a basketball came rolling out on a 3 lane expressway . Put a nice 2 inch crack in the spoiler. Can't really see it, but needs repair. Just be prepared that these things are magnets for chips, rocks, and basketballs.

Sorry to hear about your spoiler... Haven't seen too many basketballs on the 710 S... I hit a piece of tire, almost 1 foot long, lucky it didn't do more damage... Does anyone have experience with the finish of the Fang parts? Will I be able to just stick it on there or will I have to have it painted flat black?

I just installed a fang chin spoiler on mine today...... I purchased it off ebay.
You have to paint it, as it does come unfinished. I was able to do that with some primer and some flat black paint. I feel that it came out pretty good.
The spoiler bolts on to the lower portion of the bumper cover. You will have to drill six holes. That part is pretty easy, you will just need someones help to hold it in postion while you mark where the holes will be.

I ran over a semi tire blowout. Luckly I didn't have my CDC shin spoiler installed

Thanks for the info, that thing is ordered! (some time this week that is...) Did you use ramps to raise the front a bit while installing it or did you just do it on the ground? Any recommendations on the DIY paintjob?

I jacked the front end up and put it on stands. I didnt want to install it on ramps only to rip it off when I drove off.
As far as painting, the spoiler comes in pretty good condition. I did have a couple spots that I added spot putty and had to sand. Use fine grit sand paper as the part is already pretty smooth.
When painting use thin, light coats as apposed to heavy coats.

I did it !

Okay, I pulled the trigger on that eBay one... incl. shipping even cheaper than on Fang's website... Now the wait begins...

I'll keep you updated on the install, I can do a write-up if anyone is interested?

I got mine through Aeroform also, because I found it was cheaper price and the delivery was less also.
You should have it pretty fast. I think they are in Oklahoma.
I'm sure you'll be happy with the look once you get it installed. Make sure you post up the pics.

Pics will follow, that's for sure... I'm not too sure though where I should paint it... Since I live in an apartment downtown, my only option would be the parking structure... Well, I guess I have to worry about that when it gets here - or is the finish good enough to leave it unpainted?

Nope.....it will have to be painted. I painted it on the box it shipped in, so you shouldnt need a lot of area to work in. You will just need to find an area that has little to no wind that might kick up dust and debris, or get overspray onto surrounding vehicles if you do it in the garage. Also make sure you use a tack cloth to clean it before you prime and paint.

I used Plasti-Kote primer and Flat enamel paint.
If you can find the spray attachment that goes on the can to turn it into a "spray gun" it will make the job much easier on the finger....
