Talking

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a brand spanking new set of 18" fanblade rims (64E for you 06 guys/gals) and mount a set of 255 45R18 KDW tires with the new tread on my car on Friday. I have the first set in Canada and probably one of the first 3 or 4 sets total. It was always my goal to replicate the original redfire showcar that Bill Ford came out in for the first time at NAIAS 2004.

The centercaps are not stock, but rather accessory caps for the stock bullitts. Also, I put on chrome valve caps.

Today I visited a local car show at Fines Ford in Bolton, Ontario where over 110 mustangs turned out. It was a great event. Pete (Boomer) and Steve (Galaxie) met up with me....Pete was nice enough to take some pics as my camera is broken at the moment.

My impressions:

- The car looks WAY better with the new rims/tires. Its like a whole new vehicle. The shiny rims look amazing with redfire.
- Handling has improved quite a bit. No more rolling on the stock Pirellis. The new lower profile, wider, BFG's just grab the road.
- Ride is still good surprisingly. Its a bit rougher but nothing I'd worry about.
- The back end may tend to kick out more easily due to the increased rims but its hard to say based on only a few experiences in the last two days.

Thanks pete for the pics and Ed Nicholson at Fines Ford for all the extra effort he went to in getting the rims mounted Also, thanks to our favorite parts supplier Kevin for putting up with all my PM's about stock etc.. And of course RMac (Ryan) for posting pics of his car which convinced me to get my own set....<wow, you'd think I just accepted an Oscar or something >

P.S. The Windveil Blue car is Pete's and Ed owns the Cougar.

Anyways, enough of my rambling, here are the pics (btw, as good as the pics are, they are MUCH nicer in person ) You can't really tell from the pics, but the center of the spokes is a different colour as they are painted vs. polished. Its really a great contrast.

Your tires and wheels look awesome Dan. It has been my goal to replicate the 2004 redfire show car all along also; minus the spoiler delete and red interior. Thanks for posting pics.

Awesome! It's great to see how the fans and BFG 255/45s will look on a Redfire.

Come on ERL, giv it up! :bang:

Dan, It has to be pretty cool having something so rare on your car. I'll bet they got a lot of attention at the show. How many people actually knew what they were?

Quite a few actually. Someone asked me if it was an 06 Also, a guy said "Now how the heck did you manage to get these rims early?"

I've brought my car to shows in the past but never has it drawn this much attention. I can't tell you how happy I am with this setup.

Trust me, you lose the depth and contrast of the colours in the pics but it gives you an idea.
