Ducktail with tape leave mark after removal?

Just curious - I'm thinking of getting a ducktail for my 05, and I'm wondering if I get bored with it for some reason in the future, or want to add something different, or paint the car, etc, does the 3M tape leave a residue or pull the paint off when the pieces are removed?

if you are gentle when removing it and use something like 3m's adhesive remover or goo-gone, then no, it will not leave any residue or marks.

Wow. What a timely topic. I just had to remove my 3DCarbon 3-piece ducktail this morning that had been on the car for over a year. The edges on both sides of the trunk started to release and was making the thing bow out of shape. Anyway, after removing it and peeling off the residual 3M tape and using 3M adhesive remover, you would never know there was ever anything there.

I'd be more worried about filling the holes than the 3M tape residue.

Any tips or tricks for removing with the 3M remover?
The goober who installed my SS ducktail did a poor job and I'd like to try to reposition the spoiler.
It seems to sit up too high and left a slight gap between the top of the deck lid and the spoiler edge. Maybe 1/16".
Any related help is appreciated.

I'm very glad to hear that. I've got the same spoiler, and was wondering how difficult it would be to get the tape off if I ever had to (or wanted to) re-align it.

The CDC design uses both tape and studs ... that extra security against failing tape.
