Decent looking ducktail
I ordered spoiler delete in hopes that by the time I get my car a decent ducktail would be out. With my time growing near, i still have yet to find one I like. So far i have seen the MRT and CDC units, but in my opinion they look rushed and stuck-on. I like the CDC one except those horrible extensions next to the taillights that ruin where the bumper lines up. Has anyone seen any ducktails (or other spoilers) that look good on the 05? I don't like the factory one, but it's better than other options I've seen so far, and I REALLY don't like the deleted spoiler look b/c after looking at some v6s it makes the rear view look funny, like it's too high up or something.
you can look at more ducktails by looking through the cars that were at SEMA

But most seem to be using the same one from CDC (I believe the MRT is from CDC, it looks the same), but Roush has kind of a ducktail going on, WesTrenz has one, Performance West has one (not sure might be same as WesTrenz), may be more. So far for me CDC is the best looking, but the bottom edge by the taillights does look rushed and stuck on as you say.

I was just looking at the SEMA pics and I like the wesTrenz one. It doesn't mess up the natural lines of the car. I dunno about the little side piece though. seems like they could make it 1 piece that just hangs out over the side. Then you would never have alignment issues.

I still like the CDC the best, flaws and all. Hopefully by the time I can afford to buy myself a new stang they will have made it look more natural. If not maybe a good bodyshop can shave the edges and mold it together with the car.
Why not just have a body shop "integrate" the CDC spoiler into the trunk? Every aftermarket spoiler make will have a slightly "tacked on" look because, well, they are taked on. If you are looking for smooth, you will have to get a body shop to smooth it in. But, that requires more work, and a lot more painting. This is why I was very dissapointed when Ford didn't design it into the car.
I am interested to see other options though.

The problem with integrating the spoiler is that metal and plastic expand and contract at different rates. So basically someone would have to make a ducktail out of metal that could be welded in then painted. You couldn't use a plastic spoiler because the first time it got really hot or really cold you would start to see cracks.
The "stuck on" look is common to all spoilers, even the OEM because, like you said, they are all stuck on. My main problem with the CDC spoiler is that it comes so low around the outside of the taillights. If they had just made a straight line across it would look better, and you wouldn't have the appearance of the bumper cover not lining up.
Oh well there are bound to be some more choices sooner or later.
