Custom 281 fender emblems installed!

A friend of mine (pegasusphototx) has tried a number of different ways to place a 281 designation on the fender well area of our ponies, but none have quite worked out as expected.

Most recently he’s been working with a custom emblem vendor to create stick on 281s that sit right on top of the standard tri-bar fender emblems just like they did in the late 60’s. Lucky for me his car is in getting a custom paint job at the moment, so I get to show off the new badges first!

What do y’all think?

Tim

Looks good but is it gold or is that just the way the light is reflecting off of it? I like my GT/CS stripes but they ruin pretty much any attempt to place an emblem on, though I'd like to find a small 281 to place in the center of the stripe at the very front of the car.

They're chrome... it's just how the light hits them. I imagine the tint of chrome is slightly different than the running horse emblem, so it'll probably have a slight color variation between the two. All in all, Thomas at http://think3d.biz did an awesome job on these.

I like them! Let us know when they become widely available!

I also like the GTA lettering in your stripe!

I love it, but would want it the same size as the 1960s version.

No to mention you have one of the best looking stangs, love the GTA stripes and with those chrome wheels, perfect. I wish I had the chrome instead of the polished on mine, maybe if I can get them cheap.

Thanks for the comments and feedback guys. I showed the car last week and got a lot of attention from the old school ‘stang guys over those. That really made my day!

Thanks for the compliment Starfire. That's exactly what I did, waited until I needed new rubber then looked for a "deal". After about 7 weeks of waiting I saw these pop up on eBay with 500 miles and jumped all over them. See http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=466126 for details.

I saw a set on the for sale forums a few weeks back, since they have not sold maybe the guy is willing to deal? http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...ghlight=wheels

Good Luck!

Tim

Thats really great you are getting the kudos from the old school guys! Everywhere I go I get the same reaction with my white Pony. It's a matter of packaging and presentation. The current Mustang is the greatest ever. It was styled right and it dymamically the most refined and best quality it has ever been. It is so true to the essence of the original classics. Even the V6 models compare to past GT's and the original 289 models.

I am feeling really stupid right now.... I got so excited over the 281 emblem that I forgot the V6 is NOT a 281 but the 4.6 V8 is.

This isn't the best shot of mine, but I have mine installed as well. I really like how they pull the retro theme together.

Your paint looks so incredible, I can read the 289s off the car in the reflection!
