if only they were more helpful sending me one of the GT-H signed dashboard plaques (without a serial number.. i just want Mr. Carroll Shelby's signature on my car.. especially since it has over 60 Shelby parts being fitted on it, from the GT500 and the CS6/GT-H)
Amy, can you help me there? i'm willing to cover any costs towards the plaque or CSCF!
Hi Gt, glad the strut bar worked out. We are looking into a plate for Shelby to sign for all mustang owners. We will have something to announce soon.

?? for you - I was at the dealership..no comment.. and wanted to get this CS6 hood etc. They said that I would have to get vinyl stipe kit that would be made specifically for this hood.

Is that true and is there one out there.??

Thanks and I am still leaning the ropes on getting my car and getting what I want..

ultimix, you're correct.
i haven't found a ready-cut vinyl stripe kit for the CS6 hood
Bob White said he'd send me longer stripes, which i'd have to cut to fit

anyway i'm painting mine on.. i'm done with Vinyl

Any decent vinyl shop can put stripes on for you. There's nothing special about stripes "kits". It just saves the installer from having to cut the vinyl himself.

Hi Mark, Shelby Makes the hoods and the stripe kits for the cars. Is your car already striped? if it's just a relacement piece for the hood only, there is no big deal. Shelby does now sell the complete stipe kit and the piece for just the hood

CS6 hood material

Is it aluminum like the factory unit or fiberglass like most aftermarket hoods?

Thanks,

Chris

Bringing this back to life.

Has anyone come up with some sort of solution for the swimming pools accumulated during rain/washing? Or we left to deal with that?

How does everyone who has it still feel/think about it after having it on for awhile. And lastly, do you have the factory hood prop or mrt/cdc struts?

not that it rains over here in Dubai, but on the very few occassions that it did, i simply drove off.. and the water went straight back and drained through the wiper drains on the cowl screen.

oh and i use the Redline Tuning quick lift elite struts.. i've had them on for 9 months now and they're great!

Same with the rain deal. It's not that big of a deal and just driving forward clears it fast. Being an everyday driver water doesn't sit there for to long. I am using the Steeda/CDC style struts, no issues at all.

Hood pins are recommended. I don't have them yet and as most fiberglass hoods do, mine bounces around a bit at 60+ MHP.

Thanks guys, thats exactly what I wanted to hear. After I pay my rims off Im going to seriously look into this hood.

I was oringally going for the KR hood style but I think it'll make the front end way to busy.

What did it cost shipping/painting/mounting? Get an idea of what I should be saving for.

Mine came from Hillbank and shipping was $160 (I'm in South Florida by Ft. Lauderdale). The flat rate to have my hood painted was $650 at the shop I chose however it cost me more as I had to have them modify the underside for it to fit over my supercharger.

I could have found a better price easily however I chose the shop I did due to their workmanship. I used to do custom airbrush and don't mind paying a little more if needed for quality, especially for large paint work.

I think the average cost for prep/paint on a hood if around $400 to $600, better if you know someone.

Yeah, deff always rather pay the little extra to get a job I wont be ashamed of showing off especially one as expensive as this. Yeah I live in the Tampa Bay area not to far form where you live.

Is it me or the hoods on the CS6 mustangs much more pronouced in there design. Those hoods on the concept cars seem different from yours? Your seems subtle in its look and theres is more defined. ???

It's you Here is my car when it was still in the bodyshop.

The hood is the same and just as pronounced. What really is setting it off on the CS6 Prototypes are the stripes which really accent the dip, the wheels, and the hood pins. Take a look at mine finished with stock 18's and no stripes. It looks quite tame without more "meat" so to speak. I am going to add new wheels and stripes down the road.

Yeah it was me. That first picture you posted is amazing. I think the other pictures you posted didn't do the hood justice. I guess to much sunlight took away from it.

The hood looks great. I cant wait till I can get mine. I was thinking about doing the Foose style strips.

PS. let us know when those strips and wheels go on.

I have not been impressed with Shelby so far. I ordered a Cs-6 hood and the hood grille, it took quite a few phone calls to get a ship date out of them, and when the hood arrived it required $500 in prep just to fit it between the fenders. It had half an inch of un-trimmed flashing that had to be ground off, and required extensive blocking, trimming and shaping to get it on the car. The grille that goes in the hood is a cheap piece of rubber garbage (which costs $75) that will be going back to shelby. I will post a pic of it. I have always been a big fan of Shelby, but now that i have had the experience of paying through the nose for shelby parts only to deal with the poor quality I will steer clear. I would love to say they rectified this situation, but so far I cannot.
