Here is a Trick I have Been Using For Years! BTW It May Not Be Legal in Your State. I am Using My 1967 ltd Fastback as an Example. What I do Is when one of my older Cars Has a PILE of Year Tags is to Cut them off with a Razor Blade to Get to The Original Year Model of The Car. I then Put That Plate on the Front of the Car and Now The Year Model of The Car is Identified. Granted The Older The Car The Cooler This Trick is. Now with your 05 Simply Swap Plates when Your New Tags Come. Now your 05 will Be Identified as an 05 as Long as you have That front Plate. I like it and thought I would Share this Trick with you! I Realize Not everbody Has Front Plates but For those who Do. Also I have Got a Few Double takes from the Meter Maids in Ca. But No tickets! Oh You May have to get a new Month Tag if your State uses those! It would Probably would be a Good Idea to Remove The Month Sticker off the Front for Less Hassle!

i would think that would be illegal anywhere, as then they dont know if the car is currently registered/inspected

 

in new york you would park your car and come back to a pile as think as a phone book..

 

We do not have Stickers on the front in Ca. Anyway Most People should now How Uptight their Local Law is. Glad I live in the Sticks! You can Have my Original 67 Sticker when you pry it from my Cold Dead Hands! LOL Oh and I am sure None of Us Mustang Owners Never Ever Break Traffic Laws!

Dang Kevin... those black plates take me back to my childhood! I always thought they were the coolest Cali plates. The blue plates were cool too but not like the black ones. As for the white plates...

 

Thanks! BTW That Car is a Big Block Loaded Auto with Black Interior I bought it in 92 with 62k Original Miles It has 102k Now. Still Purrs and it's The Last Year you could PUSH START an auto. It's Built to Last!

That won't work with my 05 because my plates were just transferred from my trade-in... Which has stickers back to 2001.

So... I bought my 05 in 01?

 

Cool idea....
Unfortunately, in Connecticut, they call that "Misuse of Plates" which , I believe has a mandatory license suspension if caught.
