Well I know how to solve this problem. Man, how long have you guys been married. You know the key to all is money. Bribe her. Give her the card for a day. Barter, get her something while getting yours. Good luck

I'm with RMac, just buy it and put it on before she notices. Mine took me less than 25 mins to install. Luckily I don't have to worry about that.

She's right, and that's the whole point, isn't it?
When I started thinking about mods, I knew the wife was going to be on the side of good sense and economy. That meant I needed to preemptively strike, and make my mods look sensible and economically sound. I started by telling her I wanted stripes on my car. Personally, I think stripes are great, but not on my car. She hates em...really hates...great place to start. Then I started looking at lowering kits and the loudest exhausts I could find sound clips to demo. Toss in some browsing of racing seats, 5pt harnesses, rollbars and humongous wheels, and she was darn near apoplectic!
I 'conceeded' on the stripes and racing stuff, but brought up some of the milder modifications I actually want, and she is totally satisfied that her good sense has prevailed. Yeah, some of my mods may make me look like a punk, but that's what I want, and the wife is happy that they aren't stripes.
Tell her you want to put a neon kit on it, fender flares, hood scoops and a Turbonator in the tailpipe. That chin spoiler will end up looking mighty fine to her!

My wife is the same way concerning mods :notnice: She is the type that thinks cars should stay the way they came from the factory.
The key thing is to just do it right and make sure the whole car flows properly and looks good. She caught me talking to my buddy one night while I was pointing out on the hood how I wanted to black it out and she liked to have had a fit! "You're not doing anything to that hood, leave it plain, just the way it is!". Then my wheels & tires. That was both good and bad. The bad - She came outside after I had got done mounting my Mach 1's and says "You ruined it! Your other wheels (Bullitts) were way more flashy ( )". The good - Then she says " Those wheels make it look like an even older Mustang (
)". Which is exactly the route I'm going with my car.
So yea, some of us have to be careful what we do. Like someone else said, I'm just going to have to do some things under the wife radar and maybe or maybe not pay the price for it later. Once something is done, it's done. She'll have to live with it. This is my personal ride, I have to be in it for 1.5 to 2.5 hours a day, to get to a job to pay for it (and her car) and I am going to enjoy it my way, not hers
.
As far as her ride; I think she is pretty pacified for now though, I helped her buy an '05 Pacifica and played up the point about it's 19" chrome wheels and tires and killer Red Fire like metallic paint, telling her how much better it looked than the 17" stockers and non-metalic paint
, which it does, and she agreed.

The Classic - easy as heck to install too.
Show her all the pics in this thread and she'll be sold... as far as I'm concerned, the chin spoiler "completes" the lower grill.
Couple more:

I used to be at that site you mentioned, but no longer. I spend my surfing time here at TMS, and at www.modularfords.com.
I've never seen the grill itself painted. Not sure whether I would like that or not.
Man, i feel sorry for some of you guys. My "bride" wouldn't say a word about mods. Heck, she wouldn't even care what i did to my ride, as long as i'm not redesigning hers.
And you may have a "dry spell" over a chin spoiler?? tsk, tsk, using sex as a weapon....definately not good !

My wife encouraged my mods...
Although she slammed the door on anymore changes once I hit 1200$.
Still I have one ace in the hole - IF I fail emissions due to the SLP loudmouths, I have been granted permission to get the corsa exhaust... I've never wanted to fail emissions so badly!
Plus I am buttering her up - just bought her a 05 durango sxt... SHE IS SO HAPPY... which means I'm Happy...

Is that fairly new?? I don;t remember it when we talked about wheels and tires - looks awesome!!
Glad you decided to come hang at The Source.
SamS 66 - thanks man!
Yes, 18 inch Bullitts in anthracite from Mustang Tuning - SWEET wheels.
The headlight covers are from Lund - you can find them at a couple of sites (for some reason its rare to find a site with an actual pic up of them - although that mgiht have changed recently - I know LMPerformance has them but I got mine from Speedycarparts.com - free shipping!
)
a few more.........your sife will love the splitter. Some items for the stang are very extreme and too modern looking for this car, but this is a must have IMO.
The fit is nice and tight, follows the flow on the front end perfect.
