My car is GT/CS so I have no side emblems and when I run the Eleanor grill I lose the Pony on front, the other day a friend of the family looked the car over for a good 5 minutes and then asked me what kind of car it was. I guess I could use something that at least says Mustang, I guess I'm too stealth.

I see that everyone puts them just below the third brakelight. What spacing are you using? I guess space between letters or letter spacing on center? Thanks for the pics ya'll.

your friend needs a good kick up side the head, mental shortcomings aside

not knowing what car he was looking at! To me, it's instantly recognizable!

As far as my lettering gap, I believe it was just shy of 4" on center as I didn't want it to go from light to light.

Yours is pretty much the same as mine, Kool. I did 4 inches on center. I'd do 4.5 if I had to do it over again, though.

I like the placement of mine, especially after seeing this pic in the original post here.

They set in a bit from the lights, not line up with or extend past.

So what about adding them to mine? Think it will be too much with the pony already there plus the black out?

Here is mine:

I used strips of painters tape as a guide for alignment. I placed several vertical strips of painters tape accross the decklid. I carefilly measured and marked on the vertical strips of tape 1/4" up from the decklid line that runs accross the top of the taillamps. Next I ran painters tape across the back at the 1/4" marks on the vertical tape. This makes 1/4" space above and below the "T". I centered the "T" first directly centered with the middle of the third brake light and truck lock cylinder. The letters "S" & "A" got centered with the ends of the third brake light. I took my measurement from center to center of each letter then use that as a guide to apply the "M" and the "G". I thought for sure that I would have a problem with the "M" being a bigger letter wider than the rest but I had no problem spacing it perfectly. The letters "M" and "G" ended up being exactly centered with the bottom corners of the decklid.

You have got to be kidding, how can anyone not know what type of car the mustang is ?
Im thinking why buy the lettering as everone knows its a mustang, hmmm

I like the retro look but at the same time for me if it was the sixty's I would have removed the lettering and filled in holes. I like the stream line clean style.

To each his own... It's fun to have some retro details and be a little different than the normal stock vehicles you see on the road.
