Greetings all.

When I first saw pics of the new Mustang, one of the first things I wanted to look at was how the fog lights in the grille were mounted. I hoped they could be relocated to the middle ala the '67 Shelby Mustangs. However, when I finally got an up-close look at the grille on a GT, I realized the lights were integrated into the grille itself. :bang:

So that begs the question:

Is anyone planning on making an aftermarket GT grille that will have center-mounted fog lights? Perhaps you can dismantle the guts of the lights from the stock GT grille and install them into a new one that will house them in the center. Or has anyone found their own solution. Also, does anyone with a GT know whether the design of the fog lights even makes that possible?

Thanks...

Supposedly there are some after-market grilles on their way to market. As its early enough in the production cycle they're not yet available but they'll show up eventually.

With luck some manufacturer is working on a design for an aftermarket bolt-on fog lamp kit. If so this may be a good workable means for moving the fogs without cutting up the grille. Hopefully that kit would be compatible with some future V-8 grille so you could just place the fogs where you want them, wire them up, and have your solution. At this point the only discussion I've seen of adding/moving fogs has been by V-6 owners and has included chopping holes in the grille.

The whole reason why they stopped putting them on the 67 Mustang was because it was against the law...I don't think that has changed, so sorry, but you're probably screwed.

I thought they were only against the law in some states. There must be a resource online somewhere with this sort of info.

That's not exactly true. There were just certain states that had laws against the center fogs. Several 67 Shelbys were built with them outboard on the grille for those states. They stopped doing it that year just for the hassle factor of what grille for which state. I think you could get away with relocating them because 1) it's aftermarket, not factory and 2) even in a state where it's illegal, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a law man that either knows about this obscure law, or cares enough to pull you over for it in the first place.

It looks like 3dCarbon is working on a grille with the center mounted fog lights. It shows up in some of thier pictures and not in others.

I know I have wanted to move them to the center way before they started producing the car. Now I just have to wait for a company to make the proper grill.

Street Scene is working on this grille shell for both the 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder versions. It should be available very soon. It will use the factory GT lights

Remember though, those were "driving lights" NOT fog lights. Center Fog lights are not illegal.
