Earlier today, I completed installing the CDC Shaker Scoop on my Sonic Blue GT. I posted a detailed writeup (with pics) here: http://www.modularfords.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=33039 Make sure you read the whole thread... some of the info was from last night, but there is a lot of info from today deeper in the thread.

forgot to ask. Now that you have the shaker connected did you block the rest of the sides of your air filter? I know the heatshield still allowed for air from the front and side closest to the quarter panel. Just wondering if you blocked it in to make it a true CAI unit now. I still have no clue yet as to how I am going to modify my intake kit. This could be an interesting week.

Also, approx how long did it take from start to finish to mod and install the shaker?

No, I did not block off the rest of the C&L CAI heat shield... I left it open in the front. I spent a total of probably 12 hours between last night and today working on it (and I had some help from a couple guys, too). Much more than half of that time was spent just modifying the shaker kit to fit and work properly. As long as it took CDC to get this out on the market, I would have thought they would have solved some of the issues I found. Maybe they'll make some changes in the future for others.

I love the way that shaker looks!!

I was wondering, however, if you have to have that plastic engine cover. It doesn't look bad at all, but I was just wondering if it's necessary. Personally, I am not a big fan of a lot of plastic in the engine compartment.

You could probably cut most of it off, sure... but frankly I think it looks better than all the wiring that was there.

Having owned an 03 Mach1, I am familiar with the cool view of a shaker from the driver's seat. B) That shaker is a very nice addition to your 05

Is the CDC shaker adjustable, if say you wanted to raise it just a .25 inch or so? I think it might look even better raised so that the all of the shaker's intake was above the opening in the hood.

Congrats on the shaker install.

Great job Don.

I'm still leaning toward the fang shaker hood combo. The CDC looks like it sits lower on the hood than the fang (not as tall).

Thanks for the kind words, guys. And no, it's not adjustable... that's one gripe I have about the CDC kit (read my post linked above for other complaints).

I got mine finished last night. Maybe I can post some pics later. Unfortunately the pics I took inside the shop turned out pretty dark :bang: . It is an undertaking. I expect anyone with fabrication experience and the right tools to be able to do it in 4-6 hrs (took me closer to 6). The most time consuming part was centering the template, and the most difficult part was probably putting in the 2 front screws that hold the shaker on. I also plan on having stripes painted also so it's not completely finished, but here's a teaser.[attachmentid=30162]

Matt, did you also have the provlem with the shaker not being centered? Both Don and I have the same issue. at the front of the shaker there is a 1/2" gap on the passenger side between the shaker and the trim ring and a 3/4" gap on the drivers side.

Woohoo!! Way to go Matt!!

John, unless it's the camera tricking us, his looks off-centered too. I spent close to an hour modifying that bracket to straighten mine out (of course, that hour included a couple failed methods... hehe).

When I get the replacement scoop from CDC, I have a couple ideas I want to try for a new bracket. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

you gotta lower that thing man. Is it me or something but does the shaker seem alittle small for the hood i mean doesnt it look like it should be bigger, maybe if i saw one upclose it would be diff. From all the pics it just looks alittle small for the hood, not alot, just alittle.
