It looks good. I would get that as I would like to do a stripe package that resembles the 69/70 Mach 1. I would like to see a black plastic chin spoiler as well that would work with the shaker in making a 69/70 style Mach/boss. Anybody make a chin spoiler, other than the Roush?

that hose is going into the top of the airbox.................thats already filtered air..................why would you ram air into the top of the airbox??????Maybe im missing something.
I was thinking the same thing because the stock air filter is flat and located below where the air is coming in from the shaker. But I guess if you use a cone shaped filter like in that picture you would be alright.

Love the integral manifold cover, but that is an awfully circuitous route for the actual induction tubing. With that nice, centrally located intake inlet, you'd think they could make it more direct.
That's actually how it's done on the Ford built Mach 1s.

I know. Don't like the look of those either.

It's not filtered yet, see the pic for what the filter will look similar to inside the airbox.

Okay I guess I am still missing something as well. The pic you show is the Steeda intake kit, which is not what CDC is using. Also they just mounted their kit to the stock air filter housing. You cannot get a cone filter to fit in there. I would love to see a pic of the inside of that air filter housing they are using. To me it still looks like unfiltered air which is absolutely pointless.

hmmm, no edit feature now....anyway look again at the CDC under hood pic. Take a close look at the left air filter tab (where the top of the housing connects to the bottom part). You can see the orange (almost pink in the picture) of the factory "flat" air filter.

So that being said, the air from the shaker is NOT being filtered. CDC, prove me wrong!

I have no idea what CDC is doing, I am just going with what I know about the ram air I have on my Grand Prix, the SLP setup uses a different air box with a cone filter. Just figured it would be the same here.

Your 100% right Adrenalin. I've been all up in my stock airbox, and CIA's and there is no way that air could be filtered. It's plumbed above the flat factory filter, it would have to be plumbed in lower on the stock box below the filter to do any good filtration wise. I would be surprised if this set-up flowed more air than a good CIA....

Maybe the air is filtered in the shaker? Is there anyone with a Mach 1 that can shed some light on this subject.

Hmmmm that's a wierd setup. I have the CDC shaker kit for my 2000(I wont repost the picture because it's already on the site in other threads)and its quite a quality kit. The 2000 kit came with a new air box that has vacuum activated flaps. When you goose the throttle the flaps would open and flood the box with cold air through the shaker. The horsepower gains were modest but the visual appeal made the kit very worthwhile for me. The shaker is a quality metal shaker, very solid and since it sits on the engine you get the lovely lean when you hit the gas. I'm not quite sure how this kit works with the odd plumbing but I can say the previous CDC kit did not have any secondary filter in the shaker. The only filtration happend in the airbox.

unless you rate your cars hp from magazine adds, you should expect probebly 3-5 hp at most with a filter and shaker. Or if you believe advertizing 10-15 hp, I have built plenty of motors to know that the figures that are advertized are unrealistic.

In the '03-'04 Mach 1s, the air hits the conical filter via the tube which connects in the top area of the air silencer (see attached red car image). The route is indicated by the arrows in the blue car image. There is no filter in the shaker.

with the new throttle body type it would be cool if someone would do a '69-'70 mach 1 type of hood scoop(not shaker)and route the air like the 4th generation camaro SS's had.As the hood closed, the scoops air path would seal to the top of the airbox.

Any guesses as to the cost of a shaker system?

What have the previous systems cost?

My Grand Prix is the same way, well SLP makes both of the hoods. Would take pics but the car is in Texas at the moment.
