CDC Classic Hood Scoop
#22
Droped mine off at paint shop today. They wont have it painted till Thurs or Fir, then I will pick it up. Im having them paint the front where scoop openings 'should have been' flat black. They didnt want to cut on it. Maybe I'll have pics up Sat night or Sunday.

Okay.so far I have only read the instructions...(A FIRST FOR ME).
The wipers are rerouted back through the cowling(it must be removed for wiper install). You must drill 2 hole in the cowl on each side for the
tubing that comes with the kit.You reuse the t fittings. The wiring for the turn signals runs from the harness near the fuse box ,taps in to 2 wires than reroutes back along the fender to behind the battery then up under the hood blanket.
Bad news about the hood..... you must drill 10 TEN holes in the hood to mount it. More to come......

Good Lord!!!! 10 holes !!!! Just seeing a drill "near" my hood makes me shakey, let alone watching one go through - 10 times But the end result is nice.....so good luck

We're going to start having CDC shakers added to a few of the cars. The installation rep had a gt with one done come by today. I like that alot, and I HATE scoops. It still had the stock aluminum hood.

Could you get a better 3/4 shot of the scoop on the car? Also someone said that this scoop does not have enough room to hold the 10" + 2" + 10" shelby style stripes, the CDC website says that the front is 22.25 inches, so I would think it should fit.
A better 3/4 photo of this would definetly help.
Thanks, also if you could measure quick and see if on the very front you could get a 10" stripe with a 2" gap then another 10" stripe.
Thanks again

The scoop tapers from bottom to top 22.5 on bottom where it meets the hood, but is exactly 21 inches wide on the top at the front so no 10" with 2 " space. I was sick all weekend so havent got it on yet. I did cut out the scoop openings this afternoon after work, since the body shop was "afraid" to cut it. The scoop is very well made. Im off tomorrow and will have it on and pics by tomorrow evening.
Also it is attached with 7 holes not 10. 3 on each side and one in the front middle.

Well heres a couple shots of it just setting on the hood. Will install the scoop signals and window washers Sunday.

Looking good. I am real curious as to how well the new windshield washers work being routed up and onto the wiper blades. We should get together in the Wally World parking lot and compare notes.

Windshield washers are great. Hardest part of the whole thing for me was removing the driverside wiper blade arm. You take the nut off pry from underneath and tap on the stud.... passenger side popped right off.. driivers side musta worked 2 hours on before it finally came off. Signals easy to wire.
I opened the front of the scoop myself, wasnt a hard job at all.
For sure we need to hook up at Wally world, havent looked at a vert up close as yet, and since we both have the impeccable tase for redfire....

Just a note, took a 2 1/2 hour trip on the interstate to OKC got up to 100 a time or 2 and the scoop is very stable. Doesnt move at all. The signal lights on the rear of the hood are a nice touch. I was worried they might be too bright at night but they are not intrusively bright at all. Got tons of positive comments and long looks everywhere I went. Its pretty cool in a bigger town like Oklahoma City to get the looks from the Vette guys and such. Some bad hiney cars prowling the streets there.

I have the CDC front spoiler and the rear ducktail and like their products but rather than opting for a screw on hood scoop (which I have) I think I would rather go with the Champion fiberglass hood for $350.

Is this blue car the champion hood?
The CDC hood will be funtional for a total cost of about 700.00...it combinres with their shaker underhood components.

I think these functional hoods are pretty much over-rated. Hood scoops were made for cars with carbs and with cold air induction kits drawing their air from the front side of the car I think it's pretty much a waste of time and I doubt that there is any dyno proof that shows any horsepower gain from the shaker system or a functional hood system for the GT. JMO and I could be wrong.
