CDC Chin Spoiler Material Questions

I received my CDC Classic Chin Spoiler today and am wondering if the spoiler is made diferently than those previously manufactured. Reason I ask is that it is very flimsy, thin, and is molded in black. I thought the previous ones I saw in threads looked stronger and were a yellowish/white color.

Any thoughts on the above?

For those of you who have them, were they flimsy? Any problem with paint cracking once it was painted? Any info at all would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Mine was yellowish and about as flexible as the material the bumper is made of. I painted it with rattlecan black bumper paint and the paint has held up fine. Plus it's easy to touch up when I ground it on a driveway.

My CDC Classice came in the yellowish/grey color. It was flexible but not what I would called flimsy - it has proved to be extremely durable.

Mine came molded in a black color with some gray in it as well. It is flexable as others have mentioned but not flimsy. You wouldn't want it to be stiff, some flexability is good.

Thanks for the replies. I guess flimsy is relative, I guess I thought it would be more rigid than it is.

My aggressive shows cracking on the inside edges of the opening. I didn't hit anything with it yet, but I did drive it at 130MPH on Road America, so it may flex a bit in the wind. Everything on the front of your car is succeptable to dings, dents, chips and issues, so just enjoy it until the first june bug takes a hunk out!

If it is molded in black, maybe you got the version that does not need painting, assuming you like black.

The CDC I bought originally had the black coating on it before I had it repainted. Even so, the material below was the yellow urethane. I'm guessing that the manufacturer may have changed the type of plastic used in the molding process. In either case, i'm sure whichever body shop paints the piece will add some flex agent to the paint to keep paint from cracking when flexed moderately.

Do the CDC Chin spoilers come ready to paint or are they textured and therefore will need prep?
