Carbon Fiber Trunk Lid
Carbon Fiber Trunk Lid
I currently have plastic caps filling the hole on my stock trunk. If i were to get a spoiler i would prefer roush, but due to price i would rather just get the GT500(even though it isnt my favorite). Then i thought of just replacing the whole trunk lid. My car is alloy so i think the CF would blend in quite well, but i would paint it if it came down to it. I know it is more expensive than just a roush spoiler, but it also is much more custom. Here is the one is was looking at

I'm not well-versed in carbon fiber production, but the ad refers to a carbon fiber 'layer' on fiberglass construction. Does that mean it is actually just a cf facade, or is fiberglass always involved?
Also, how does the weight compare to stock? If it drops a substantial amount then it looks a great idea, otherwise it may be stretching the term 'custom.' I have an alloy car too and love the color, this could look pretty cool. Stock hood still there? If so, a cf hood down the road would probably pop really well.

You can go for a full CF piece, or a layer of CF over the fiberglass, like that one is showing. I'm really not sure about the weight difference between the two, but personally if I were going to spend the money on the CF, i'd buy the non-layer piece. JMoraru, why not call Seibon and see what the price difference is?
it is going to weigh more, since it is basiclly a fiberglass trunk lid and then just added a layer of carbon fiber ontop to give it the look of a carbon fiber peice so it will weigh the same as a fiberglass lid. But a FULL carbon fiber lid will weigh alot less.

Just know that the "lip" doesn't continue to the trunk:
I was about to ask if they offer endcaps since it would look kinda odd just stopping in the middle. I would suggest filling your holes on your trunk and getting a ducktail spoiler if you still want the spoiler look.
i would rather keep the clean look, but it thought that the CF one was one piece. i guess it isnt?i also thought that the lip was smaller. they also offer a replica of the stock trunk lid in CF. i just want to get rid of the wholes without spending hundreds to get the same trunk sealed. does anyone else have pics of that trunk or any more mustangs with CF trunks?
oh yea...and what could i get for my stock trunk? anyone interested?
