Can you buy the 2008 HID lights yet

I''v always wanted the saleen HID's but cant justify the 900 bucks for them. Does anyone know if you can order the 2008 HID option yet? And how much they would go for?? AOL says the option is 500 something

I could be wrong, but I think I read that the 08 production has been slowed by a lack of h.i.d. stock.. so if Ford can't get enough for production, I doubt there are many floating around parts departments.

You read $500 where? If thats the cost from a build sheet that price is going to be different if you were to purchase them as aftermarket. Or so Im told. Anyone clarify?

It's always much cheaper from the factory, the $1000 stitched dash is only a part of a $400 package for example.

KC was guessing somewhere north of $1000 for a factory "kit". Problem is, apparently the factory HIDs won't be a "drop in" replacement and will require some wiring surgery to complete. I wouldn't count on $500 HIDs any time soon from Ford.

The Saleens might still have the "burning" problem that I and others on this board have experienced. Be careful. If you choose to order them after all make sure that the Saleen rep assures you IN WRITING that they have addressed that issue.

Your only other option is to get e-Bay HID lights and fit them into the stock housings. That should run around $300 or so for the bi-xenons (four ballasts) or $150 or so for just low beams.

HIDs are a great (and IMHO necessary) upgrade. Good luck with your choice.

When I heard it was going to be $1,000+ for the Ford parts, I went and bought aftermarket bulbs / ballasts. $175 with shipping

Here are pics showing halogen vs. HIDs

I won't buy from vvme again - poor service, poor quality, etc. But I'm sure you should be able to get similar performance from another source. These are 4300

7-21-07 I have rethought this (about buying from vvme) and although I still wasn't happy with customer experience, considering the price and the fact that they have performed well since I installed them, I think they are worth considering.

The pictures, don't quite do the HIDs justice.

I have the solenoid bi-xenon, they flip upward with the brights Sounds exactly like the setup I have. I would get 4300 for maximum lighting power, 6000k if you want a little 'stylin'. 8k is very blue. Sure they have a little glare and are a touch annoying to other drivers, but no worse the the old-gen TL's setup, and NOTHING like some of the new SUV's with them-yikes. They excel at lighting up reflector tape, especially on police cruisers..You can see road lines and tape/signs from 3+times the distance.

If anyone with an 07 S197 is going to get the 08 HID's, I'd be interested in buying your OEM headlight assemblies if we could strike a deal. PM me!

It looks like the same system I got. You may have to fashion a custom connection - no big deal
