Calling All CDC Chin Spoiler owners
I have had my CDC aggressive spoiler since June of 05. After first 2 weeks the paint started to peel and I got it repainted free of charge. But now after 18 months, the paint is suddenly peeling all over . Ive gone back to same reputable paint shop and being told that it is the quality of the material CDC used and that I can expect this to continue to happen over time. Cost to remove & repaint is $500.
Has anyone with these spoilers had issues with the paint not adhering/peeling?

I had one on my black 05 and have one on my redfire 06.... (note: the classic, not the aggressive - but as far as I know, made out of the same material so shouldn't be a difference)
No such paint problems whatsoever..... and I have not seen this come up in all the times this has been out
sorry but I think your paint shop is full of
[BTW - I had a reputable locally known place do the RK Sport hood on my 05 way back..... I was 'decently' happy with it and NOT blown away as I was lead to believe I would be. Especially for a local place many car guys knew. Somehow I got his "C" team I believe as the other guys were doing more 'important projects - the guy installing my hood also managed to scratch it twice when installing the wiper nozzles so there ya go....]

Unless you've been doing some offroading in your stang there's no excuse for that. The body shop's prep work is at fault. Go to several other paint shops in your area and ask them for their opinion (Don't tell them where you got it done or you might not get an honest answer). Then go back with the "professional knowledge" you get from the other shops and tell your guy he's full of it.
Also $500 to remove and repaint is a little over the top for something that goes on with a couple of screws and 3M tape. I think you getting ripped off. Even here in Cali where everything is expensive it would only have costed me a couple hundered to get that painted and installed.

Unfortunately, the CDC aggressive required cutting out of the lower grill. So removing it is not an option unless I buy a new bumper. And since the car is Sonic Blue, the availability of them on Ebay is scarse.

Don't blame the material. It is definately the "Prep" that is the problem. Had same thing on the nose of my 91 ZR1. Now as far as not being able to replace it goes. Heck isn't this just the perfect oppurtunity to try maybe a STEEDA or ROUSH Facia. If I was going to have to spend "another" $500. it would be for a new look.

I have a CDC classic unpainted lying around waiting for my car to appear (ordering a grabber orange GT). It's a bit off-topic but I had been wondering if I could just leave the darn thing "as-is" since the material it is made of it already flat black? I'm planning on dry fitting it and seeing how it looks in the light of day unpainted like that. Probably it will look like crap and I will need to learn from your experience and try my best to find a good paint shop.

OK guys you aren't helping by suggesting he just buy something else. He spent his hard earned cash to get this painted. It's not his fault the shop did a crappy job so he shouldn't be the one to get screwed over.
Mxyzptlk-Go back to that paint shop and tell them the reason it started peeling is because of the crappy prep job they did. As a paying customer you have the right to make them re-paint if it's peeling after only two weeks. Don't let them bully you around. Threaten them with the BBB if that's what it takes.

Well after the 2 weeks deal they realized it was a bad job a repainted it for me but now its starting again 18 months later. Im just curious if anyone else with this part has had bad experience over time? I have no problem paying someone else to do this, but I'd hate to waste the $$ if the urethane part is really too flexible (bendy).

It is the paint shop.
My chin spioler is perfect.
I have install 3 of each 3 classic and 3 aggresisve for customers.
NOT a a single problem.
I would ask for 1/2 my money back and find a new paint shop.
And take it as a lesson learned.

Prep by the paint shop...I agree.Thats the problem.
My painter actually suggested that I buy mine matte black from CDC as it cut down on his prep. No problems with mine and its been on for just at a year now..

Definitely the prep
They probably didn't add any flex agent in the paint as they usually do when refinishing the bumpers so the paint will have some "give" to it. The prep is bad for sure.
