Black Rocker Panels

I just got black rocker panels on. I'll post a picture tomorrow if anyone is interested. I had debated about painting the stock panels, but the cost of the panels used on the V-6 was only about $200. Painting would have cost me close to that.

I think the black rocker panels make the car look a little more sleek. Mine is Satin Silver and it looked a little thick in the middle. The GT 500 also uses black panels.

I agree with you on the painted rockers.I did the same thing on my Pony car and added a black spoiler with some very inexpensive 17's.

I agree, The black rockers look good and they do make the car look sleeker!

What I like about the V-6 stock rockers is you can beat them up in the winter and used the painted ones when the roads clear up from Spring to Fall.

Pat, I wasn't sure whether the Silver Stang in the photo was yours, but it does show that the rockers just about disappear when viewing from a few feet away. I like that look better than the stock. I kept my old ones in case I couldn't stand the look, but I might mention that swapping them back would probably require a new set of trim pins (the ones that pop in along the bottom). They are not re-useable. The ones I popped off the OEM rockers were pretty much destroyed by the removal.

My God-son works at body shop and he gave me enough clips for a couple seasons. He tells me the clips run about 25-50 cents a piece.I could ask him for some extras and send them your way. That was my Pony of a lemon, fortunately I ended up with the GT.I really did like that V-6 car,it hauled azz up in the mountains.

Back when the first pics of the "new" GT500 came out, AFBlue noticed it used the black V6 rockers and gave me the idea to try them. I've always thought the '05+ Mustamg GT's looked too "fat" and the black rockers definitely slim it down a little.

Recently, I also painted the lower rear lip to match. Had to get a new rear bumper and the GT500 bumper wasn't available at the time.

I'll try to take some pics tomorrow. The weather up here in the northwest has been awful lately.

Does anyone have the part #s for the V6 rocker panels and perhaps the non-reusable clips and the re-usable clips?

Did the same with mine but wrapped the car with the CDC chin spoiler in black and the GT-500 rear bumper with the bottom black.

Little Black Pony: Thanks for posting the part #s, but none of them appear to be in the parts system?

Amazing! It was a clear day on the "sunny side" of the state. It was 35 degrees, but I put the top down anyway.

So, you can unscrew the (#1) pins and cut the (#2) 8 plastic pin ratianers and slip on the new rocker panels...correct?

No need to cut just buy one of those trim pullers (see left item below). They are only a couple of bucks and make removing them easy

Funny this topic came up...I want to paint my black rockers...I think it will give the car the illusion of being lower than it is....wonder what it will cost to have them painted?

Funny you mention the black rockers making the car appear lower. Lately everyone who sees the car now thinks it has been lowered...I thought it was the new rims, but maybe its the black rockers

grabber07, you know I talked to my body shop guys about that. It turns out to be pretty much a wash. Either painting the stock panels or replacing them were both about the same, about $230 at my shop.
