Billet Grill install
Billet Grill install
Hi,
I'm a long time lurker first time posting. Just started modding the exterior of my 06GT with a CS rear clip, Shelby Spoiler and mudflaps, MRT Hood and a Mr Bodykit horse delete grill.
My issue is the grill did not fit very well after removing the silver horse emblem and sat very forward such that it was sitting just beyond the fogs. Thus without thinking for a second I bust out my dremel and cut the horse pedistal off the old grill in some spots to make the grill sit a little more flush against the old grill. The screws provided also were not long enough with the horse in place but the instructions did not mention this. (instructions are very sparse)
I just wanted to warn folks that perhaps you could have force it on and the billet overlay may flex enough to get the screws through, but in my opinion it would not look right that forward. Also I had to remove the entire grill to get the screws on behind it as the AC radiator does not allow you to get a hand behind there on the pax side.
I dont know if its common for cutting down of the horse emblem holder for all grills but just wanted to put it out before folks spend money. I think the end product looks fine but if you get eye level with it and shine a light you can see the mutilated horse shape, kind of like the shelbys you can see the fog holes when they removed the fogs for their grill.
Did anyone else cut it out for their install?
ciao
Scott

I had the same issues with the one I installed. I had to cut the whole area around the horse to get the grille to fit back far enough. I like it once it was all back together but it was a pain to hack up the stock grille.
