Better driver-side wiper blade

I noticed my Dad's 2007 Cadillac CTS has wiper blades just like my Mustang's, except that on the driver's side his has an aerofoil (scoop) on the lower edge to catch the wind. Passenger side blade is identical to the Mustang's.

Curious, I switched my Dad's blade for my own (driver sides) and each fits the other car perfectly. Same length and everything. I tried the aerofoil blade on my car in heavy rain and a lot of wind at very high speeds (I won't say how high) and his does a better job. Stays flat on the windshield and never lifts off.

I went down to the GM dealer and bought one for myself. GM part number is 12487636 (at least in Canada). You might want to try one if you want to improve your visibility in the rain. Just passing on my experience.

Very interesting. I am in the market for a new set of blades. Could you post a few pics of your new find for the rest of us?
Thanks Scott

Why not just switch to the GT 500 wiper blades/arms?

Bosch Icon Blades. Same design as the ones youre talking about (and the GT500) But they work with your stock arms.

Yes the GT500 wipers have the air foils on both sides. Full length of the blade.

I just put a set of rain-x latitude blades on and they're the best I ever had. They have air foils and are curved to so the whole blade stays on the glass ...

Don't you find it kind of expensive to spend $40 for wiper blades??
Never have changed mine out...never had a car long enough for the blades to go bad...

They're more than some other quality blades , but less than some too ... So far they haven't started streaking and most other blades I've used start streaking in what I consider to be a short period of time. I've never had a pair of blades last me for the life of any of my cars. You guy's must be lucking over there on the west coast ...

That explains it , I had my last mustang for 15 years. I sold it about 6 months after I got this one ...

The Bosch Icon's look like the frameless ones the 500/Freestyle use, those 'softies' rock on those cars.

The stock blades are fine up to 85 mph. I wouldn't waste money of "upgraded" wipers. A little Rain X helps too.
