Bad news / good news

So I"m on my way to a casino this morning for a cheap poker tournament. Missed the exit I wanted, and had to go a couple miles farther for the next one. On the way, the low pressure light comes on for one of my tires. And the Fuel low chime acts up. So I get off at the next intersection, and pull up to the pump. Just as I'm putting up the nozzle, I hear a crunch. A Ford Ranger is sitting way too close to the front of the car. He pulls a couple feet forward, and I take a look at it. Aside from his bumper scraping the paint on my bumper down to the plastic, there was a bracket sticking out of his bumper (looked like it was for trailer lights), and that cut a nice slice through the plastic.

They parked and came out to see the damage, I got their info, and talked to them about it. A couple of brothers on their way to work for the day. They've offered cash instead of going through the insurance company, which I'm alright with. I'm going to findout from Kevin what the stock piece would cost, but order the Gt/CS front and rear conversion. I'll have the same guy that painted the hood for SEMA do the bumper covers.

Should get the cash from them on Monday and get it all ordered then.

Next piece of bad news was the gas station's air pump was out of order, and I didn't have my tire gauge with me. Tires looked alright though, so I just went to the casino. Got signed in for the tournament (my first ever) and played conservatively for quite a while. After about an hour, a couple players were moved over to my table, and one of them was a co-worker. Neither of us had seen each other earlier, so that was nice. He only played a few hands before moving to another table again, then lost his first hand going all in. So now I had a cheering section (sort of). 2 hours later I'm at the final table, and when 5th place get's knocked out, I'm in the money! Wahoo! My first tourney and I'm in the money. We played a couple more hands (I won them both) and one of the short stacks (I had second highest chip-count at that point) suggests we just split the take 4 ways. Myself and the chip leader hem and haw, then they ammend their offer. The two of us get $100 off the top, then the 4 of us split the rest 4 ways. We took that deal, and I ended up pocketing $500. Not bad for a $45 buy in. Needless to say, I'll be putting some of this towards the new bumper covers, and the rest will stake me in a few more tournaments.

Went to Discount Tire and had them check the tires, no leaks found. They replaced the valve on the one I thought was low, and it has been ok the rest of the day, but tomorrow we'll see again.

I'll get pics of the damage up tomorrow, and have alread sent a note to Kevin for the newest HotSheets.

No police report, no worries. I got cash from him Monday night, ordered the new GT/CS Bumpers (ordered front and rear from Kevin) and already have the front bumper at the paint shop. I'm very happy with the deal, it kicked my exterior styling desires into gear, and helped pay for it at the same time.
