I need to know, if you can paint the other part of the bottom to simulate the look of the GT500 or is it impossible to do?

I am not sure I know what you mean by the other part of the bottom but I will give it a shot as I had one put on last week

I had them paint it like the CT/CS but they could have very easily left the very bottom black all the way around the bumper, like on the shelby.

 

I have that rear fascia and left mine with just the matte black in the center section of the rear. But, there is a line embossed in the fascia that goes around to the wheel wells. I think you can see it in the photo. That part of the fascia below that line can be painted matte black as well. That is the way the GT 500 is painted.

 

You can paint any part of the bumper anyway you want to.
If you want to simulate the GT500, you'd leave the center section (diffuser) unpainted as well as the sides. Just follow the line.
If you want to simulate the GT/CS, you'd leave the diffuser unpainted, but paint the sides. (see Northwest GT's picture).
Or you could go for something completely different and paint both the diffuser AND the sides.

 

I was just wondering because someone said that the matteblack piece is plastic on both the GT/CS and the GT500 and that I was wondering if this is true or it just seems plastic since it is matte

 

All of the bumper cover is made out of the same material. The black areas on the GT500 and the GT/CS simply aren't painted.

 

Maybe these pics will help. The bumper cover is all one piece and all the same material even though those lines are there. Also, the center section has a texture to it, similar to the V6 rocker mouldings and your side view mirrors.

The last one is a pic of my unpainted Roush front fascia, just to give you an idea of what the material looks like before it's painted.

What color/type paint is used to paint the sides of the rear bumper to match the unpainted center section and also the side rockers and the front chin spoiler, all of which are unpainted.

On the GT500 that area is also unpainted. It's all the same material (and all one piece) so to get it to match the unpainted center area (which is part of the rest of the bumper cover) you don't paint it.
On the GT/CS it is painted body color.

 

Well, the problem is if I don't paint both lower sides, they are slightly a different color than the lower center section between the tailpipes. I was examining my unpainted cover this afternoon and my observation is this:

1) The center section is a dark graphite color.
2) The two lower sides are lighter.

#1 and #2 are definitely not the same color. (On the GT500 bumper, #1 and #2 are the same dark graphite color.) I'm trying to match the lower side's color to the lower center without having to spray paint the lower center. I'm going for the GT500 look so I do not want to paint these areas body color. I'm wondering what everyone else did to accomplish this. I wish I'd taken a pic or two of my cover which is at the body shop. Hope this makes sense.

Yes, different part numbers. I bought the GT/CS cover from 05stangKC (Kevin). He told me this cover is "hundreds less" than the GT500 cover.

Well that sux. But it explains a lot.
If you're going with the V6 rockers and you want a pretty close match, I would say flat black. However, the reason I didn't go with flat on the lower lip of my stock GT bumper is because of how much harder I was told it would be to clean.

One thing you'll have to keep in mind is how that black strip will but right up next to the "splash guards". And those are the "natural" black, like the rockers and rear center section.

I think i'd have it all painted a satin black. Rockers, sides, rear, splash guards, etc.

 

My plan was to not have to paint any of the lower panels but because I bought the GT/CS rear bumper, I'm going to try (at least initially) to match it as closely to the rear center section. One thing I don't want to do is to paint the side rockers. Ya see, I'm planning on taking my stock red rockers, painting them sonic blue, and swapping them with the unpainted black rockers off my wife's sonic blue V6!!

What I'll probably tell the paint shop tomorrow is to not paint the lower sides. I'm going to see if I can find a spray bomb can in a flexible charcoal / graphite color and spray these areas myself. If I can't find this color or it ends up not matching good enough, I'll paint all the lower pieces a matte black....

Thanks. Be sure to let us know how it turns out. I'm sure there are others who'd like to know. If the GT500 bumper would've been available when I replaced mine (an idiot backed into me) I would've gotten it instead of putting a stock one back on there.

I saw pics of the GT500's rear diffuser and it looks like a gray plastic rather than a painted surface.
