Attaching Mirror Covers

I just got some DG mirror covers from Partscheap, and they seem like they look great. But it seems to me that the double sided tape makes em stick up to much, i.e. gaps around the base in places.

I know this may seem drastic, but has anyone ever glued em on? Just wondering, I don't really see myself removing em. Just wondering also what potential concerns I might end up with.

I thought of the idea because of the trim ring around my rear view mirror adjustment ****. I got a chrome surround for it, and hated the way it stuck up with double sided tape, so I used some silicone adhesive and bam! It settled right in and looks like it was always supposed to be there.

The potential problem with that is there isn't a whole lot of surface area on the mirror covers that actually comes in contact with the back side of the mirror. Hence the double-sided 3M tape.

FWIW I got mine from American Muscle, and although my concern was the same as yours, once I got them on I noticed they don't stick up very much at all. It's really not noticeable unless you look closely.

Go to americanmuscle.com and look what other people said in their reviews on their covers. Some good ideas there.

Same here. I've had mine on for about 2 years and I also noticed that they seemed to conform better after being in the summer sun for a while.

Justin, I have the DG mirror covers on my personal car and have never had an issue with them sitting up to much. They should be sitting almost flush with the raised portion of the mirror. However if you choose, silicone adhesive would work. That is how the carbon fiber mirror covers are attached to the GT500KR.
