Anyone using a magnetic rear blackout panel?
I saw this magnetic rear blackout panel on Late Model Restoration's website. Anyone using this or something similar?
I know the honeycomb panel from SHR is popular and very well made - this magnetic piece is less than $40 so I was wondering about its quality?

like the look, just havent gotten around to throwing it away and painting yet...bought it 'just to make sure' thats what I wanted it to look like before painting that part(already blacked out wing/lower bumper trimline).
only issue- after about 1 year now, the magnetic material is starting to crumble away when you pull it up to clean, there are chunks of magnet stuck pretty tight, and there are light radial 'cracks' showing around the medallion...if sticking with it, I'd say just plan on replacing every year or so.(the 06 sits out all summer- think sunlight takes its toll on the magnet).
SHR's honeycomb is a really nice permanent fix, but just has a bit too much '1970' on it for my tastes...my acapulco blue 69 fastback dont have a honeycomb, so I intend to just paint it black back there- trying to go for a kinda 'twins' look between it and the 06
if my other car was a 1970, I'd definitely go for the SHR piece!

I love mine. I tried the 3m sticker...after 30 min of trying to get it right and seeing that the hole around the medallion was oblong, into the round file it went. i hope it lasts me long enough here in florida till i get the rear painted.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm definitely going to paint the rear panel eventually but not sure when that will happen. Because of that, the magnetic piece seems like a great compromise for only $40. But it also may be in the next week or so to get painted (going to the body shop for an estimate this week), so depending upon what it costs to get everything done I want done I may just wait for the paint work.
I'm definitely going to go with Cervini's Pedestal wing and have the lower rockers painted as well as the low part of the front and rear bumpers. I haven't decided about a spoiler only because it seems like we have so many places that a low-hanging front spoiler might be a PITA. So, I'm still up in the air about a chin spoiler - I LOVE the look of the CDC chin spoiler but not sure if I can live with it as a daily driver. Eventually, I want to put the GT500 rear bumper on but that will have to wait ($$).
Thanks again. Any others care to chime in?

I had similar thoughts on the front spoiler...looks great, but with my luck and the roads around here, I'd end up replacing it too often...
if you're going with the blackout on the bumpers, heres a pic of the way I painted the front of mine- carried the 1/4" or so top lip of lower bumper line across, rather than blacking out the whole bottom of the splitter- Its all personal opinion, but I think a little contrast there helps set it off more than all black...others Ive seen are usually all black/no body color remaining...similar in the rear, tapered off the arches over the exhausts, carried the black only across the 1/4" 'face' of the arch, not the tapered part up top... others Ive seen had the whole arch painted... just some things to think out before heading to the painter...I started masking and got nowhere fast before I had to decide which way to go
